In this cyberworld of cut-and-paste ad nauseam, the truth is often disguised, trampled, or completely lost. (Sometimes the truth never existed in the first place, like with conspiracy theories.)

I wish more people would bother to chain search.

This is what I do as a hobby. I check articles and op-eds, then run a search to find out where the writer got the information, then do another search to find out how THAT information was gathered - and so on and so forth. It's pretty fascinating actually. And it sometimes goes off on tangents and you learn about things only marginally related to whatever piqued your interest in the first place!

I agree.

Stay safe.

According to the State of Florida COVID site there have not been any new infections in the zip codes that make up The Villages in the last 5 days or so. The infection count has been stuck at 32159 at 5, 32162 at 54, and 32163 at 7 for the last 5 or 6 days.

BUT that is when we were following the rules and not intermingling....which was only Sunday. I wonder what, if anything, the intermingling will change...and if the figures will change in fourteen days from now which is how long it takes for this virus to show up; two to fourteen days is the incubation period.

I am waiting to see if the numbers rise before I go out and about. I hope for the best and prepare for the worst.

I think the whole story isn't being told at just how big the real scope of this virus is.
If you look at total cases in Florida, the number keeps going up, and will continue to until this is over. The numbers to look at are total new cases per day (looks like it peaked late April) and percent of positives for new cases (also slowly going down since April 20)

https://floridadisaster.org/globalas...05-04-0943.pdf

Opening up activities like swimming, golf, pickleball etc is not going to cause an upsurge in cases, they know the vast majority of cases come from close contact indoors. Opening up restaurants is a bit more tricky, I'd eat in one if they had outdoor seating.

A lot of the retirees living in TV have had it fairly easy, they have incomes from SS, pensions that have not stopped during the pandemic. Outside the bubble, there are 30 million plus out of work, and a lot of businesses are going bankrupt. If they don't get economy going soon, things will get very bad. Villagers can still practice safe living, enjoy expanded activities, and ride this out. The rest of the world needs to get back to work.

Not a single new recorded infection for 5 or 6 days?

I'm not sure I would believe that.

Like other places around the nation, posting of cases and deaths are sometimes skipped for a few days and then all of a sudden a big jump is shown.

It wouldn't surprise me to see, that is what's happened down there.

Not everyone dies on command every day to give numbers so they are skipped. It also take more than 24hours to report a death. If you wait numbers may either make you believe or not what you are looking for.

I for one see them falling, compared to 2 weeks ago, but that would be on a first hand observation. No guessing required.

I saw an interview with the Oxford researcher working on the virus and he specifically stated that this virus doesn't mutate like the common flu virus ... conflicting information.

Should we wait before panicking?

Yes, and this was easy to predict. The flu mutates every year, and while COVID-19 is not exactly the flu, they have some commonalities.

Los Alamos National Lab is not the only research showing multiple mutations. Chinese researchers reported 33 mutations, and there are many other reports.

Coronavirus: Scientists in China find 33 mutations of virus in warning to vaccine developers

It may not mutate as fast as common flu, but it is mutating. This may or may not mean a single vaccine would work on all the strains.

Default You can’t fool Mother Nature!

Apparently, Mother Nature wasn’t satisfied with her first attempt at controlling the population of our planet-destroying species and decided to take more-extreme measures. :-)

If you agree to take a "vaccine" developed by Bill Gates, you are a complete fool. Look up his past vaccines if you want to see how effective they were.

Passing the virus from person to person is not simply a factor of how close you are to others, but also of the duration of time you remain close to others. Walking past someone on the sidewalk is quite different from eating in a restaurant where you are sitting in one spot for close to an hour.

All I need to know is he couldn't stop Microsoft Windows from getting a virus, why would I trust him now.

THANX Graciegirl for delivering the publication of a new viral concern. Now I'm waiting for another shoe to drop.
