Default Opthalmologist Recommendation

Good morning all,

I tried to reach Dr. Michael Tolentino at The Center for Retina and Macular Disease to schedule eye exams for me and DH and was told he no longer practices there.

There is a Dr. Richard Hamilton at the center. My other choice might be Dr. Kimberly Ireland in Lake Sumter Landing.

Have you had any experiences with either Dr. Hamilton or Dr. Ireland?

Thank you for any comments.

I vote for Ocala eye who has a retina specialist and many other specific eye specialists such as one that specializes in the optic nerve.

Your ask for an Opthalmologist, both of the doctors you mentioned are Retina Specialists. I see Dr. Hamilton for my problem. By the way, Dr. Tolentino has a new practice in Clearwater Eye vitamin for macular degeneration and cataracts and does come to the Lange Center on 101 one day a week. His specialty is Macular Degeneration.

I would highly recommend you contact St. Luke's to make an appointment to see an Ophthalmologist and go from there when and if they decide you need a specialist. My husband is a patient at St. Luke's and was recommended to a Retina Specialist by them.

Thank you for your response. It's obvious I'm confused - LOL. Our primary care said she wants us to get an eye exam so we certainly don't need specialists. I will take your advice.

Thanks Gracie. Thanks to another poster I realize that I've been asking about specialists when that's not what I need. Appreciate your response.

I went to an optometrist, rather than an ophthalmologist, if that’s what you’d rather use, and she was at the Walmart on 466 in Buffalo Ridge. Can’t remember her name but she’s been there at least a couple of years.

Dr. Charles Pappas is the optometrist at Sam's Club. He is wonderful. Takes his time with his patients. I had cateract surgery at Lake Eye but was unhappy with their Rx for glasses, and wanted to have an exam by an optometrist, rather than a tech.

Helol,
Has anyone used Lange Eye Care? We recently moved to the Villages, I am a Diabetic and need to get my Exam. Any responses or recommendations appreciated.

I'm looking for a large titanium frame for sunglasses. Can anyone suggest a place with a large selection of frames?

I go to Dr. Gooch at St. Luke’s Eye. He is absolutely amazing. Right across from The Waterfront Inn. Dr. Ireland is also great at the same place, St. Luke’s. She mostly does the surgery.

I recently switched to Lange. I've only had one appointment and don't have any serious eye issues (yet, knock on wood). I was assigned to Dr. Exposito. I was very happy with my appointment. Everything was handled with competence and efficiency. So, so far so good.
