We are ready for our move and will be there soon. Just a few loose ends to get tied up..Now my issue is my husband has Multiple Myeloma for which he takes the medication called Revlimid. Finding a Medicare suppliment to cover this drug has scared me to death. He will retire in a matter of 2 months and I have about lost my mind looking at all the different supplements for Medicare. I could use some help if anyone takes this medication and has a reasonable co-pay. Also anyone with Multiple Myeloma please feel free to share. We are blessed that "Rich" is in remission currently. This drug is very expensive and way beyond our means. Thanks to all.

I am on a Medicare Advantage Plan and it looks like your co-pay on this plan would be 33% of the cost of that drug. I have no idea how expensive it is, just that it is in the highest tier, tier 4.
You talked about a "supplement" and that is different from an advantage plan. I think if I were you I might pick up the phone and call companies that offer the kind of insurance you want. Ask them how much this drug will cost you. I DO know that with many of the advantage plans you can ask them to put your drug in a lower tier. It wouldn't hurt to try! Also, using the mail order pharmacy through your insurance plan will often result in cost savings to you. It sounds like this would be a "90-day supply" medication and it IS offered through Medco, the mail order pharmacy that Preferred Care Partners uses. Good luck.

Gretch:
The more I become involved with Villagers hoping to find more reasonably-priced medications, the more I become frustrated! Sadly, you must do your own research - and lots of it! True, the companies trying to sell you coverage claim to have done the research. However, it has become a case where your own research is more likely to provide accurate suggestions as to what to do! Good Luck! SWR ![]()

Hi try aarpmedicarecomplete.com
Think the annual cost is about $11K for the customer. I cannot believe the cost of this drug. over $130K, wowie! My wife has MS and her drug cost only $44K I highly recommend that you call the drug manufacturer. My wife did and she got the drug free for 2011! and it seems she will get it for free in 2012!! Her cost would be about $6/$7K if we had to pay. She is on SS disability and thus qualifies for medicare being under 65 Good Luck!! |

Great suggestion to call the manufacture as I remember a commercial that used to be on the radio where someone said they did this and the drug was provided for free. Good luck Gretch928 in finding something.

i don't know if this will help your situation but there is another senior organization besides AARP which offers supplemental insurance. i am a member and plan to look into the possibilities...this organization is called AMAC Association of Mature American Citizens and it has a conservative bent for those of us who are not happy about AARP supporting Obamacare....to join call 800-255-4199 or for insurance information call 800-334-9330. they have a local office on 441.

The only dif in Supplement plans are the cost of the coverage from each company. You need to check the Drugs, Part D of medicare not the supplement

And BTW, the same legislature that rejected 55 billion dollars in federal money gets their own health care coverage for $8.25 per month. |
