A co-worker was telling me the other day that several of her relatives caught the latest strain. This is after they all had been vaccinated with the latest covid vaccine.

TeresaE 12-21-2023 08:42 AM

Absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. Covid tests miss as many times as they pop positive. So if you’re sick, assume you’re contagious with whatever (Covid, Influenza, the crud), skip the test, stay home or go to the doctor and get meds if warranted and leave the rest of us to live our lives in peace And get that mask off your face, especially outside. All those do is collect germs for you to breathe back in.

No stupid judgment, please. Just assume I look better with the mask on, and let it go at that. As for the vaccine, one of my hobbies is getting poked with needles. Acupuncture is fun! Gimme the shot.

Not all is straightforward in life. I got AFIB from a COVID vaccine, not the virus.
One time ablation was needed for resolution.

How can you be sure a cough is not Covid? Check the date. It's only December. The primaries are still months away!

Our friends flew back from Ireland in September. Picked up Covid on the way home. How do they know? Timeline. Tested. Not a cold or flu. Was Covid.

We returned via Miami airport 2 weeks ago. We came down with Covid 2-3 days later. How do we know we got it on the plane? The man seated next to us was obviously ill. We are now doing ok. But husband still has some taste & minor breathing issues. Glad we had our vaccines as we firmly believe that helps keep symptoms mild.

Has nothing to do with politics but the hard heads will claim that is so. Believe what you want but take precautions if you can, especially in our age group or if you have health issues. Just common sense.

This protects others from getting Covid. I know a number of people who have died from Covid as well as many who suffer debilitating long term effects that have seriously impacted their quality of life. Having survived both cancer and an autoimmune condition, I appreciate every day of good health!

This is what most people don't realize. Because many just get mild symptoms we forget those many who either have bad symptoms and long term illness or even die from Covid. We know people who had a mild case of Covid the first time then died the second time. I hear many stories of people who have a mild case of Covid and still go out and do their normal business spreading it to everyone. But as you mentioned, if you don't test your symptoms could go away but you are still contagous and spreading it to people you come in contact with and this is the big problem. The people who don't take Covid seriously are not going to be satisfied until we all start dying from it again and hopefully that doesn't happen.

This is a popular opinion of those who didn't die. Those that did might argue the fact. Sitting in a hospice unit now. Nurses advised they are now being advised they have to accept Covid patients. One came in yesterday and passed away the same day. Some people get over it easily but some don't. I'll wear a n94 mask and take the vaccine. As we age the risk rises. True of the flu AND true of COVID. I don't want to risk my life knowing I didn't do whatever I could. So if I'm in a crowded situation I'll protect myself. If I have any symptoms I will stay home.

My wife and I got Covid on the plane trip back from Europe. Hit us hard once we got back home. We are fortunate we didn't get it when we were on our trip over there. Much easier to deal with it back in our own home! Take care.

I'm sorry, you got it, but do you think going inside Walgreens is a good idea? That's how you spread it....... I can't imagine going inside a store risking everyone in there.

I believe you. The vaccine is not supposed to prevent you from getting Covid (in my understanding) but to prevent you from dying and to allow you quality of life afterwards.

Fear and denial is a typical ostrich head-in-the-sand response. It is a visceral response and no amount of logic (or shaming) is going to help.

Well said , if they are not capable of having compassion for their fellow man you wonder what kind of life they lead . Sad

Many people feel those who believe as you do are gullible and spreading lies. You want the shot, get it. Others do not want it, they shouldn't get it. Be kind to others, life can be very hard for all of us at times.

Awesome post, thank you. :clap2::clap2::clap2::clap2:

It's sad that people would rather watch bloggers ranting and raving about something they have no experience in and then choose to follow the lies. A vaccine thread always turns silly so I love to see the straight truth told.

Start getting chills on the plane from Iceland and then developed the cough on our stop in Boston. Probably got it in Scotland where we stayed for one week. We were there for a funeral.

Hmmm 🤔. The person is simply stating their perspective on how the virus manifests in society. I don’t see anything in that post indicating they do not feel compassion for those who who get sick and/or die. Or for their families.

Lottoguy 12-21-2023 10:09 AM

In my post I told you I tested postive. Walgreens has the less then one hour result for $19.00.

Lottoguy 12-21-2023 10:17 AM

I followed the procedure that Walgreens tells you when you make the appointment for the test. I did wear a MASK when I entered the store and also while waiting to get tested. The drive thru is not used for testing like it was two years ago when you needed a negative result in order to take a cruise.

Well of course you did! How do you know if you have Covid if you do not get tested? Also it is recommended to start treatment as early as possible for it to be most effective. So you did the most logical thing. Now for people who do not believe in Covid or think it was made up by big Pharma in the first place, I understand that they can’t see why you did it.

Many doctors with "real world experience" as well as health departments of other countries have arrived at different conclusions concerning the shot and it's safety. In the US, health officials recommend that everyone over the age of 6 months receives the latest annual covid-19 vaccine, while the UK and other European countries are restricting it to older or vulnerable people. I would propose all reconsider their attitude and treatment of others who disagree with you.

When life expectancy was 33 years old? Heck, they didn’t even need a 55 plus retirement community!

Afib

Sorry to hear you have afib. Hope your ablation went well. Afib is rare after a covid vaccination. A total of 2611 events of AF were reported after COVID-19 vaccination, of which, 315 were new-onset AF. As of January 7, 2022, a total of 523.12 million COVID-19 vaccine doses were administered, making the incidence of atrial fibrillation around 5 per million COVID-19 vaccine doses administered.

Respectfully disagree. Marine1974 response was to Eldiablo whose whole first paragraph was ridiculing folks who actually take their health and efforts to protect it seriously. To me, that indicates lack of compassion.
Read both again and see if you come away with a different opinion.

You know when they started saying it's not meant to prevent you from getting Covid? After they found out it doesn't prevent you from getting Covid. I had a lot of friends lose their career over not getting a vaccine that, ultimately, was found to not prevent infection nor transmission.

Being someone with a bit of biology background, I'd also argue that it has become less virulent as a normal evolutionary trait of viruses, rather than vaccines having any effect. I know a few unvaccinated that have gotten Covid recently and their symptoms were about the same as vaccinated.
