Default New to TV need opthamalogist and dentist

We're new here by a year...I need to know recommendations for an opthamalogist and a dentist. I went to Ocala Eye and while they seemed thorough I spent 1/2 day there with waiting and tests and that seemed excessive. I have to be checked regularily due to pressure issues with my eyes and my "up north" experiences fared better. Waiting in the waiting room a long time and then in the exam room b/4 seeing anyone so that the whole experience takes 2 1/2 to 3 hours makes one think they have to be over-booking. Once the doctor comes in, it's quick/quick and not very warm and welcoming. PLUS where to get great eye-wear without horriblely high prices. Went to 3 or 4 places and most seemed excessively priced. There is the place by 5 Guys but I wonder about those kinds of places too.
Also have heard the "horror" stories of dentists in TV (a couple no longer practice etc) I want someone who is good, honest and doesn't charge "through the nose" for their services.

I was formerly a big fan of Ocala Eye, but because of the reasons you mentioned, I now go
to Lake Eye Associates in the Sharon Morse building and am very happy with them. Doc is quick also unless you ask questions
(I sometimes have a list) and he will take as much time as needed to answer them. Also you don't have to go to Ocala if surgery is needed.

thank you for your response!!! I didn't necessarily have a HUGE problem with the doctor at Ocala Eye...though he could have been a bit more friendly. It was the waiting...first in the foyer/waiting-room, then in the room. I was there the whole morning for the 1st visit AND the whole afternoon for the tests. When I went to my practioner (an HMO clinic) back home--the whole thing took me maybe an hour. NEVER had to wait long there. Change is hard and trying to find someone good and where I'm comfortable is key. I might have to look into the clinic you suggested!!!

Now for the dentist question!!!!!

I've been very pleased with Ocala Eye. My doctor is very friendly and always apologizes if the wait has been unduly long. I always take a book.

I found Ocala Eye highly professional. I did a lot of research before going there for cataract surgery. That said, there is a lot of wait time. Perhaps we should speak up more to the folks there.

I too have an eye problem that necessitates my seeing the opthomologist several times a year. Been seeing Dr. Ramchander at Ram Eye Care for the past 4 years. No long waiting time and he is thorough and welcomes questions. Located in the Villages and Leesburg. Villages #751-6099.
For dentist, I have been seing Dr. Reem at Palm Ridge Dental for the past 4 years. She seems to be thorough and her prices are comparable to what I paid up north. #391-9930. I too have heard some real horror stories about dentists and experienced one myself at Magnolia Dental (I would NEVER recommend them to anyone).

I highly recommend Dr. Kathleen Williams and her hygenist Kathy at Palm Ridge Dental. I used to go to another dental group in TV and was disgusted with the high prices and so so work.

I second island gal's comments. I had a hassle just getting into Ocala and in the interim had an appointment with Lake Eye where I am now being seen regularily, prompt and very satisfied. Just started last week at the Dental Office in Colony shopping area next to Publix. Had a crown that decided it wanted to drop off, and needed to schedule for cleaning anyway, so they took me in the next day, have an appointment next week for cleaning. Dr Penrood and staff were very good, helpful friendly and all of the attributes one would want. I look forward to continuing a great relationship with Lake Eye (Sharon Morris building) and Colony Modern Dentistry on Colony Blvd.

Thumbs up Palm Ridge Dental off 466

I will second nominate Dr. Rheem Jabar at Palm Ridge Dental. I had been once to another dentist in town and was not pleased. By recommendation on this board I gave Dr. Jabar a try. She is patient, answers a million questions, informs step by step what she is doingl, and does not push unnecessarily to have things done, and her prices are reasonable. Before I had dental services done by her, I had my daughter check with her dentist "up north" and they were quite in line. Her office, like every other dental office in The Villages does start you out with a "deep cleaning" but then I really did need it.
