Smile Pain management in The Villages

I am looking for a good pain management clinic in TV. I do not need or want all the fancy stuff, just need to have a good clinic to prescribe my medicine. Please let me know your experiences, good or bad. PM me if you want with your answers. Thanks!

You will find that many/most local MDs are *very* cautious about prescribing pain meds. Florida had a rep for pill mills and the resulting state and federal crackdown has resulted in a lot of "CYA" by doctors and pharmacies.

When I first tried to get my father's pain meds made every 4 hours instead of "as necessary", I got a long lecture on not making patients addicts. It took several times thru "he's 91, bed ridden, in constant pain and dying" before a prescription was written and administered. (And he was in a nursing home, so no one else was going to have access to his meds.

The good news is that he's now in a place where there is no pain and suffering. I'd like to hope that they have good baseball leagues there as nothing would say "heaven" to him more than being able to play center field again.

Dr. Dominic at Lake Regional Urgent Care is a Pain Management specialist. Does very well for my mom.

My husband goes to Dr. Pinnanamaneni, who is excellent; however, it has been our exprience that you must get a prior referral from your primary care physician to see any pain management doctor. Referrals are not required by our insurance company, but the pain management doctors usually require this from your primary doctor before they will see you. One doctor's office will send a referral to the other doctor's office, and THEN you are called to make an appointment. I don't know if every pain management physician works this way, but anyone we have used (and the ones our friends have used) work this way.

Also you will need to sign a contract that states you will not get pain meds from any other doctor. You will also be given drug testing every now and then. If you truly have chronic pain that is severe and life altering that is what these clinics are for. Yes there are abusers but Dr. P is very careful about dispensing and I find him to be very good and he follows the rules.

I am also looking for referrals to good pain management clinics in The Villages. I have a friend who is moving here and will need to get his Rx meds from a pain management doc. Any suggestions?

Bizdoc, that is so sweet. My hubby would like to play center field again, too, if not for chronic pain
