Default Moffitt Cancer Center - Tampa and The Vilalges.

Moffitt Cancer, third largest cancer in the nation in terms of patient volume, has established a satellite facility here in The Villages.

My wife went into Moffitt with a 28% survival prognosis and lived well beyond the 5 year time that most serious cancers are judge by. I lost her some years later to leukemia. I have also had cancer surgery at Moffitt and continue to be monitored periodically since my surgery several years ago.

Our experience was at the Tampa Hospital so I cannot comment on the satellite in The Villages.

With the Medicare changes caused by Obamacare you would have to contact them to find out the extent of current coverage. They would also be able to tell you whether or not they deal with your secondary coverage.

Moffitt is a research facility and a teaching hospital. I found the people we interacted with to be friendly, cordial and compassionate.

If my closest friend or a family member had a cancer issue I would urge them to seek care at Moffitt.

Google Melanoma Center of Hope in Bonita Springs, FL. Dr. Ritter has a small practice and treats only melanoma. I was told that patients go to him from all over the state. He successfully treated my husband.

Smile Information

To avoid as to why but yesterday my brother called me from California and said the San Francisco Cronicle newspaper had an article about a Doctor (Dr. Allison at MD Anderson, Huston, Texas) who had just made a great breakthrough in treating Melanoma. I have two relatives by marriage who just developed it and he thought it may be worthwhile to follow up the background. MD Anderson is one of the most recognized treatment Center for Cancer so that makes it worthwhile to check it out?

Speaking from MM experience, Stage III, there are no stand alone Chemo or Rad treatments that work. Immunology is having the best current results.

If you're Stage 3 or 4, check out Melanoma Home Page - National Cancer Institute

Dr. Steven Rosenberg heads the Immunology Dept (he's also Chief Surgeon @ NCI). His treatment with TIL cells has had great results. He is also treating lymphoma's with TILs.

NCI Cancer Bulletin for May 1, 2012 - National Cancer Institute

If accepted for treatment at NCI, all services are free.
