Keep hearing people talking about moving here and then

I have had no such problem here. there are ads in the paper everyday that you can folow up and research the current MDs here. Moving here I was really concerned becasue I need a Nuerologist as my primary MD. Mine in Tampa who I was still traveling to see was relocating to the Cleveland Clinic.Wow did I ever luck out. I found one of the best I have ever met, Sheri Hamnick in Sumter Landing. I have never had so much attetnion paid to me and as a RN ,I know appropriate care. USF Health/Sumter Landing can refer you to some docs as well and there is a new health clinic being built on 466A that will house some very good ones I have heard. I retired from USF Health and if you dont mind a trip down to Tpa off I-75 to see specialists , is just a 65 minute ride south, but from what I can see more and more very good docs are coming into this area..There are just so many more of us than them as our population is aging..

There is an abundance of doctors available within a 10 mile radius of TV.
I believe the problem some folks have/had, like my wife and I, is finding one who either fills the shoes of our primary care doctor(s) from back home. I also believe there is a factor in that there are so many, for lack of a better descriptor..."foreign" doctors....hence not like my guy back home impact. After a couple of tries we have a primary care doctor that meets our needs, still not up to standard we are used to, but OK. If one opens the distance they are prepared to drive, then Leesburg as well as South of Ocala add more choices. What we do find is an offset to the primary care doctor issue is, there are very many outstanding specialists in that same 10 mile radius. And that is what makes it not such a big deal to not have a 100% fit to our primary care preferences. btk |

Dr. florian Gegaj ( pronounced Geeguy) at premier medical with offices in Spanish springs as well as lake Sumter. Listens when you talk and talks to you as an intelligent adult. Very knowledgeable and NOT a pill pusher. 352-259-2159
He is from Kosovo, speaks excellent English and has a great background. Good luck in your search.

I second Dr. Gegaj. Have been seeing him since he started with Premier Medical. Very conservatative in relation to pills, will try to solve your every problem and the other poster was correct, he speaks to you as if you are a partner in your health care.

Also the time it takes to see a Dr is frequently an issue for "NEW" patients. ONce your in the door with most of these Drs rescheduing is fairly easy ..or I should say easier. The answer is dont wait to establish a relationship with your Dr until your sick. For this I mean you can schedule an appointment with a Primary Care, Dentist, and any other specialist you know you are going to need to see (ie Dermatologist) for a check up..after the initial visit you will have a much easier time.
