Just read these 2 links and thought it was worth sharing for those who might be interested. It really put many thoughts of our health care system into an even bigger frame. It is no wonder that it is an uphill battle to get the true info about what is really going on around us. And I am sure that this applies to many areas of our lives. Well it gives me a chance to practice looking for the "light" in this scenario and, TV is a light for me. Thank goodness I am at an age when I can enjoy it now.

"They" say that confusion is the step before understanding so that's not a bad thing! That was my first reaction, along with "Oh, not something to make it even harder to make a decision". But I am happy that all this info is coming out, as I know that more and more people are getting it and "getting" it and so maybe one day we can all "wake-up" and make choices for ourselves that will lead to more transparency. I know it sounds Pollyanne-ish but I do believe that this is a sign of the times and we are moving in that direction slowly and that keeps me hopeful.

I think it all starts with direct-to-consumer (DTC) ads by fast food merchants. Fast foods (or processed foods) work like drugs on one's system and often leads to addiction. Fast foods permeate our whole culture from top to bottom. That's why 72.9% of the U.S. population is overweight.

So of course people are suffering multiple health issues and are desperate to find relief. And the phamaceutical industry is doing the same thing as the fast food industry: They're trying to maximize profits for their shareholders. Once again it comes down to personal responsibility. People need to stop consuming fast foods so as to maintain their health and reduce their need for drugs.

Note: Fast (processed) food also includes many of the foods people eat at home: They are items like pizza, hotdogs and hamburgers on buns, juice, breaded and fried foods, any kind of bread made with flour and all baked goods made with flour. Essentially, anything that is not a natural whole food is what I'm talking about.

I apprecite the links. snake oil salesman have been around since the beginning of mankind. I view advertising with a jaundiced eye. I also believe that advertising has created a credibilitygap for doctors or lawyers who rely on it..

Speaking of getting the truth... I am very concerned about the genetically engineered 'Roundup Ready' crops that are not being labeled as such. Is it too much to ask? I'd really like to know if the sweetcorn (which I recently learned how to cook in the microwave) has been doused with RoundUp. Monsanto is fighting against all labeling of GME crops.

I'm with you, Judy,
This is why I so badly wish that TV had a Whole Foods Market. It's not so much that I think genetically engineered (GE) foods are dangerous; it's that their nutritional value, if any, is dubious. Whole Foods doesn't carry GE "food".

Buying at regular grocers, it's often not possible to know if you are buying actual food or a food facsimile. Sometimes though you can tell after you get home and discover that the allegedly fruits and vegetables you just bought have no taste.
