IMHO, I have avoided buying online, as I typically need to have the nose pieces adjusted or replaced twice a year and I do not know of any local companies that will work on glasses they did not sell. I have been very happy with Hindsight as they service what they sell.

I use zenni.com for all of my eyeglasses. They are high quality, and you can usually buy about 5 pairs for the price of one pair in a local store. The selection is also much better. As far as getting a repair, I have found that most optical stores don't care where you bought them, and they will usually do a simple repair for free. Also, I bought a repair kit from Amazon that included a large assortment of tools, screws, bolts, and plastic nosepiece replacement parts.

Ordered my first pair of glasses from goggles4u this year. Bifocals with line sunglasses, were about $40. Only downside was I did not get the fast shipping and it took 4 weeks to get them. Since they were my first pair of prescription sunglasses I didn't really need to have them fast.
Will use them again.

Check out Zenni Optical online. I have purchased several pairs over the years and are priced at a mere fraction of what the local stores charge. You can “try on” the glasses you are considering and see what they will look like on you with an app on their website. Hundreds of styles to choose from. Several years ago, while having a routine eye exam by an ophthalmologist and then a refraction exam (is 1 or 2 better) for a prescription by the optometrist, the assistant told me many of her friends that work at this clinic buy from Zenni. This clinic does not sell eye ware. I told one of my neighbors about Zenni and he is very happy.

Note that when you shop for eyeglasses at Zenni, they show you the exact dimensions and weight of the frames. I remember many years ago, an optician would measure you and order glasses that fit you properly. But now, the frames they have in stores usually only come in one size, so if a frame you like doesn't fit, you are out of luck. Zenni glasses are so inexpensive that I order 4 or 5 pairs, and if they break, I just throw them away.

With maybe one or two exceptions I've been getting my glasses at Wal-Mart for the past 20-odd years. Just bring them my prescription and have them help with the choice of frames, extras, etc. About 1/3 to 1/2 the price of the optical shop at Ocala Eye and you don't have to make an appointment to have them adjusted. Opticians are apparently licensed by the state of Florida and, talking to the optician at the Wal-Mart on 441, all optical shops have to have at least one. That doesn't mean that they won't also have a bunch of barely trained minimum-wagers there too, but I try to make sure that the person who helps me IS the optician.

No complaints.

The attached from Clark Howard may be useful. I was happy with EyeBuyDirect in the past for sunglasses.

I’ve bought from https://www.glassesusa.com/ for the past couple years and have been very satisfied with selection, quality, price, and ease-of-use of the website.

Been very happy with Eyeglasses - Glasses Online - Prescription Glasses | Payne Glasses. Sounds very similar to zenni with virtual try on, many styles, transitional progressive glasses for a fraction of the cost of most eye wear retailers.

Zenni, have accurately filled my bifocal astigmatism prescription, for years. Register and wait for email notification of sales to save ridiculous money. Frames and lenses good quality. Such a deal.
