Question Flu

Am curious. Does anyone know if there is a strain of flu going through The Villages. Both my wife and I have had it. I am pretty much over it and my wife is on the way to recovery. It lasts about 7-8 days and leaves sort of lingering cough. Typical of a flu?

I can't believe there haven't been any replies to this yet. Here in upstate NY there have been so many cases of the upper respiratory thing that the health department is no longer testing for H1N1, and today they have said don't go to your doctor unless you get worse.

I went to the doctor several days ago and was told to stay home for at least a week and cancel a visit from my grandchildren. At least I'm not all that sick.

Question Another Linda

Thanks for the answer. I was starting to wonder if we were the only ones on the face of the earth with a "flu". Mine stayed for about 10 days and then a cough which I still have and my wife's started about a week ago and she is having the same run. We both were prescribed with antibiotics which has helped. When I look up flu on the Internet it looks like we are classics..? I could not believe others in The Villages have not had it. I asked the person at the drug store today and she said it has been worse than previous years and has kept them busy. I am not sure she was referring to a flu???

Default Flu

I haven't heard about flu recently, but in Dec and Jan here in TV, there
was a flu that lasted from a week to six weeks (usually with a lingering cough)
which is probably the one the drug store person was referencing.
Also, I have heard that many people here have allergies who have not
had them before - myself included.

Hope you both feel better soon.

Default I feel like Typhoid Mary

Well, I'm still home and still coughing -- and going bonkers!!! My doctor says assume I have Swine flu, be a good citizen, stay home and don't give it to others. I can understand why this can be serious for people with other health problems as the cough is a real dozy. Guess I'm glad that I feel good enough to be bored.

Thumbs up I know what you mean

Linda, I know what you mean. I have been just over 2 weeks, the major parts are gone, (e.g. temp, etc.) but the cough hangs in there. It gets just very slightly better each day..I read where the cough can go on for quite some time.
We were never tested for what type of flu we had..I doubt it was swine as that is mentioned as lasting 2-3 days and this is like the old time 10+ days.
Hope you get over it soon.
