Default Urgent care suggestions

I need to go to an urgent care center or a doctor's office tomorrow. I was bagging cut palms from a robellini palm and a thorn went into my finger and broke off and got lodged there. It is the size of the width of my finger and I can feel the end of it almost poking out the other side. I tried to pull it out with tweezers but it didn't work. Any suggestions on where to go? Thanks!!

Why are you waiting til tomorrow? . This sound serious and very prone to infection etc. I would be in the ER even if there was a long wait.

That is the correct recommendation. It needs to be removed soon, and an urgent care center in not likely to be staffed with appropriate medical professionals.

Way to go, Challenger! I love sound, logical recommendations.

It seems like overkill to go to the ER for a big splinter. I have neosporin on it and covered with a bandaid.

I should add that the size of the thorn is very narrow…its just the length of the width of my finger.

If you do end up waiting until tomorrow, I would suggest The Villages Regional Hospital Urgent Care. It is off the hospital lobby.

People have died over less. Seriously! And I'm not being overly cautious.

Preventing massive infection is not overkill.

If you do go to an urgent care, there are two in the medical professional plaza near Lake Sumter Landing.

DO NOT use the one on the west end of the complex, as they do not have an actual doctor. The one one the east end of the complex does and even has X-Ray machines.

Sorry I can't remember their names, but just make sure you ask if there is actually a doctor on staff so that you can get any prescriptions you may need.

Good luck.

Santa Fe Urgent Care is just down the road from you at the eastern end of the Santa Fe Plaza. I'm sure you're watching for a red streak up your arm. Good luck!

Lake Urgent Care at Lake Sumter Landing always has a doctor. We've used them several times for my mother and have always had competent professional help. Highly recommend them.

Yes I would say go NOW! IF you haven't already. your puncture is too deep to take lightly IMO.

This is one reason why we need to be current with our Tetanus shots. A booster (TD) is needed every 10 years.

Wow, thank you for all the suggestions. I am at the hospital's Urgent Care now. I told my hubby, who is out of town, no more palm tree trimming. I hope it doesn't hurt too much!

I'm currently sitting at the Premier Medical urgent care at Santa Barbara...you made a wise choice NOT coming here....
