Default UPDATE: Re: The Florida Eye Institute and PCP

I went down the the PCP office at Lake Sumter and spoke with a representative. That allegation againest the doctor at The Florida Eye Institute took place back in 2007. He paid a fine as did the person who wasn't licensed in FL (she had been licensed in another state). I was told BEFORE anyone can be signed a contract with PCP they do a background check and some other checks as well. So I'm confident we'll be o.k. with our eye coverage. We will NEED to keep tuned to see how the acquistition is with the sale of PCP to see if it will be a good "marriage" and benefit to the patients. Just thought you all should be updated on this whole issue from the previous thread over the weekend.

Thank you NotGolfer for your due diligence and this report. I was concerned about this provider but will now make an appointment.

Thanks for the update!

I e-mailed St. Lukes to see if they might be accepting Preferred Care Partners once they open here in The Villages. Here is what I received for a reply:

Right now we accept Preferred Care PPO's and PFFS (private fee for
service). We do not accept any Preferred Care HMO's. Once the office
is built and our doctors get credentialed for that location, it may
change. There is no way for us to tell you this early on if we will take
any other plans.

Check back with us when the office opens and we can advise you better.

Sincerely,

Kris Eriksen

What a great addition they would be to our provider list.

VillagesFlorida...that's wonderful news to hear! That "maybe" they'll be a part of the system!! I like to think we'd have options! Hate NOT having them!

Thanks for the research. It sounds a little more encouraging.
Still not sure what I will do though about my eye dr.
I still don't trust PCP's judjement.
I am anxious for January so I can change to a different ins co. I have had it with PCP.
