Is this the same as a functional medicine doctor?? There is one by the name of Dr. John Podlaski who practices in the Lange Eye Bldg. I posted a question earlier on this site (today) and for some reason it's gone. I'm wondering if anyone has gone to him and if they've been helped by him. He gives talks at the library a couple of times every month.

Default I will go on record again as firmly putting my trust

in the conventional, traditional, medical community who are board certified.

I just wish we had more good doctors here..and in Florida in general.

I am not a fan of alternative medicine. I think on this issue I can state my opinion..

I agree with you Grace and wish we had better Dr's in Florida. It's been this way forever. My dad had to leave Florida and go back to Wisconsin to get proper treatment for cancer back in 1988.

However Naturapathic Dr's are real Dr's and can be very beneficial when needed. For instance they are educated regarding compounded drugs. A lot of conventional Dr's won't research newer medicines. Chiropractors are alternative and they certainly have proven their worth for many. Massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture, etc are all alternative, and have their place in the medical community.

You can find very good doctors in Florida, but most top notch specialists (which many people think they can find here) are practicing at the well established teaching hospitals at The University of Florida, The University of South Florida and The University of Miami. It is more than difficult to attract such physicians and their families to rural environs of Central Florida.

Yes....to speaking at the library! I don't know what you mean by alternative or naturapathic. I've heard this guy speak many times and he makes sense. BUT I want to know if anyone has actually gone to him and what they think. I think you could google him for the phone number...call and ask his receptionist the questions you have re: his practice.

I will keep an eye out for his ad. I do believe in alternative medicine the conventional Dr today knows how to do 2 things. #1 prescribe meds and #2 surgery. Sure there are times that is necessary but overall Americans are over medicated and most of the time it is Not necessary

I think that natural medicine and main-stream "can be" compatible. You don't throw the baby out with the bath-water with one or the other. I agree that many folks are now over medicated these days...medicines to counter the side-effects of previous medicines they're taking.

I've listened to Dr. Podlaski speak at several meeting in The Villages at Rec Centers. I haven't personally used him.
I liked his views. At one meeting he spoke against "automatic" taking of statins as a preventative measure.
While I agree that statins are necessary for some people, I don't believe they should be used by everyone over the age of 55 as a preventative.

Don't know. Sounds like a new Franchise opportunity that someone just opened.

I go to the Lemire Clinic in Ocala, Dr. Lemire is a board certified MD, who integrates natural methods with traditional. I like the clinic very much and the staff. Here is a link about his credentials if your interested: About
