Default Optician for Complicated Prescription

Looking for an optometrist who has skilled opticians who can help translate a complicated prescription into lenses. (Severe astigmatism, nearsightedness & difficulty with small print). Struggling with that at home & hoping to find one while here for the winters. Any suggestions?

Peepers in Colony Plaza has a lab that makes lenses in the store. They also have a full time optometrist, Dr. Collins. But, I don't understand why any optometrist with an on-site lab couldn't fill a prescription.

I use St Lukes at Brownwood, and they have served us well. Wife's 95 YO Aunt get's hers treated there and she has a host of vision issues.

I have astigmatism as well as needing a prism, and Hindsight in Pinellas Plaza has no trouble making my glasses for several years. These are normally 1 day turnaround.

Great suggestions - love the idea of an on-site lab!

I have a lot, a LOT, of eye issues. I really like St. Luke's after having visited several others around here.

And the prices are more reasonable at Hindsight. Not cheap, just more reasonable and they’ll do what it takes to make you happy.

See Ron at Clear View Optix, 8481 SE 165th on Mulberry Ln. , just behind the Mulberry Grove Rec. Center, 352-259-6789 just off Buena Vista.

Ron is the owner/optician and grinds lens on site. He is excellent and provides great service. He has filled several difficult prescriptions for me, with perfect results.

Another advantage is that he has an Optometrist, Dr. William Ramsay, at the office on Saturday. This is very helpful as the Optician and the Optometrist can consult at the time of your examination. Getting my prescription right involved making up test glasses so I could go outside and determine if the settings Dr. Ramsay found in his testing were correct. After Ron made the lens, I could see like an eagle out to 250 yards on the golf course!

Nice that you can still hit them 250 yards.
