[QUOTE=DaddyD;2087039]I've decided to see a doctor so that I can get a medical marijuana prescription.
Sadly, you will need to say good bye to any guns or ammunition in your possession once you get assigned a medical marijuana script/card.

[QUOTE=retiredguy123;2087937]100% true. Know the laws. Medical Marijuana user cannot ship, transport, receive, or possess firearms or ammunition.
MEDICAL MARIJUANA Federal law prohibits medical marijuana users from possessing or buying firearms and ammunition — even if state law allows the drug’s use. An individual can’t have both licenses. Under federal law, any marijuana user is an unlawful user of a controlled substance. The 9th Circuit Court of Appeals has upheld this rule. Marijuana in any form is illegal under federal law. Users of marijuana are prohibited persons. Checking ‘no’ on question 11(e) on the Form 4473 would be a lie if you use marijuana, which is a federal offense. See this ATF letter on the topic. Educate yourself and read the direct letter from the ATF: https://www.atf.gov/firearms/docs/op...poses/download

However, a GAO report in 2018 recommended that the ATF start to issue warnings instead of prosecutions. In their report, they said that, in 2017, of the 8.6 million Federal background checks for gun purchases, there were 112,000 denials, and only 12 prosecutions. So, the chances of being prosecuted for violating the Federal marijuana laws is pretty close to zero. |

[QUOTE=Kahuna32162;2088117]Actually, I think it depends on which state one gets their Medical Card from. Some states elect to share their database of cardholders with the Feds and others don’t. I talked to our towns chief of police about this before I got my medical card because I didn’t want to lose my ability to hunt. The chief of police in my northern town is responsible for processing firearms licenses. He told me not to worry about it, he has a card also, and our state doesn’t share the database with the Feds.
