I am wondering if the Canasta card game is played at any rec centre? The only information I have from this site is out of date.

If you don't have it, download The Villages App. It's free. Go to the home page and click on Calendar. Type in Canasta and you will see lots of Canasta events and a point of contact for them. There is one today at the Paradise rec center.

I love Canasta, but there are so many variations out there that one has to be careful to specify ALL of the rules before play starts.

Samba is a variation of Canasta and is very popular in TV.

There are also several variations of Samba as well that keep things interesting.

Look for Canasta variants called Samba, Queens, I-Pass, One Eye Jacks.

I played Canasta for years. Since living in the Villages, have enjoyed playing Hand and Foot, Hand Knee & Foot and Samba. ALL very much the same, easy to learn, just a matter of rules depending on where and with whom you play. ENJOY.
