Doc, to address you issues with the play calling, it is no more complicated than this. When Brady steps up to the line if he sees 8 men in the box to stop the run, he calls the pass play set up in the huddle and when there is only 7 or less he called the run. The Panther "D" is what dictated the run/pass. Obviously in the last minute of the game they could not call running plays. They needed big chunks of yards at a time and if it goes incomplete the clock stops.
There were over six minutes left in the game. They had first and one from the eight. One yard gets them a new set of downs.
The defense certainly affects the play calling, but there are several options. They could have done a stretch run or a short pass on a crossing route. Almost anything would have been better than a low percentage fade pass to the corner of the end zone. The were running so well, especially Blount, that they could have probably picked up the yard straight ahead. How about a quarterback sneak at which Brady is about 98%? It was horrible call at a crucial time in the game.

A Giants fan here. Just wanted to say that you are assured a playoff spot with the Belechick and Brady combo. With Gronkowski, they will be a force.

Made a hugh mistake, in letting Wes Welker sign with the Bronco's with Peyton Manning. Something is wrong, for the Pats in that picture.

Belichick is starting to drive me crazy. I know they won the game last night, but it never should have gone into overtime.

First of all, they had third and four or five with a few minutes left and again they try that idiotic low percentage high lob down the sidelines that almost never works. So they give up the ball and the Broncos score.

Then in the OT, he defers and takes the wind, which strangely enough I agreed with. Manning's record in the cold and wind is not good and they have to get a touchdown. A field goal is doesn't win the game.

But if giving them the ball and taking the wind was a good call then, why did he go for a fourth and two at their own 28 yard line earlier? Wouldn't it have been better, and a more consistent call, to punt the ball with the wind and possibly pen the Broncos in way down in the own end? Ryan Allen was punting great and this was into the wind. I have little doubt that he would have kicked it down to the twenty or further. They don't get the two yards and again the Broncos score.

The guy seems to win a lot and I am grateful that we've had one of the greatest coached in the history of the NFL, but sometimes I just don't understand why he makes things so difficult. After the big comeback, this should have been an easy win.

<Stuff snipped by Alan from OP>

I came out of my chair when they ran that play on third and four. As an armchair QB, it makes zero sense to me in that situation. I feel that was more Brady's decision than Belichik, based on a read he makes in real time. I obviously could be mistaken.

That said, I am very happy to have both of them on the team I root for :D

Bottom line........great win........Brady agains proves he is the premier Quarterback in the NFL.

This team is driving me crazy. ( True, it not a very long drive). How do they beat Denver then struggle and eke out a miraculous comeback win against a team like the Texans two weeks ago then lose to a weak team like Miami, then win lie today in a matchup that had all the makings of a tough game?

I find myself wondering the same thing week to week. If i grew my hair out I would end up pulling it out. Their play is as inconsistant as my golf play so I have may have no room to talk.

Wouldn't you just love to see them play the way they did today every week. And it was without Gronk.

Zig Zag

When you expect them to zig... They zag. It is a bit maddening. Bt fun at the same time.

DonH57 12-22-2013 09:05 PM

I do wish they would do that. I certainly wish they had all the injured back on line too.

kbace6 12-30-2013 06:39 PM

Who should the PATS play?

Who would you like to see the PATS play in the divisional round?

If it differs, who do you think they WILL play.

For me I would love to see the dome team come into Foxboro.

However I think Cincy has been sooo good at home this year. I am routing for San Diego though.

As an aside out of the other 5 teams who could play the Broncos, 3 are the teams that beat them this year. INDY, NE and SD. No intimidation there....

Bring on the NFL Playoffs! :MOJE_whot:

They only way they could play San Diego would be in the third round, if the Chargers beat the Broncos in the second round. It's impossible for the sixth seed to play the second seed in the second round. It's now down to the Colts or Bengals.
