Went to a seminar on fraud recently and scary how much of this is going on. As a result we have instituted a credit freeze and no longer mail checks.

What is a credit freeze?

Most of my money is with Fidelity and Vanguard. My main concern is that someone can hack into those accounts.

Did the seminar say anything about a way to protect those accounts from being hacked? I would like to have a limit so that no one could take more than $5,000 in a day - unless I was personally at the office.

Credit freeze will prevent a hacker or even yourself to open an account in your name. To open a new credit account you must lift the freeze temporarily. Easy to do.

Best way to learn more go to one of the credit bureaus and they will direct you to the ins and outs of a freeze.

Would also talk to a rep at Fidelity and Vanguard to see how to protect yourself.
