Default 9-11 memorial statue in The Villages

This memorial stands in front of the fire station on Morse Blvd across from the Sarasota driving range. It is beautiful.

thanks for the photo reminder. We're in that neighborhood often - will definitely stop and, no doubt tear up. 20 years - in some respects it seems like 5, but always have those visions.

Hopefully this will be the last time we will need to create a memorial due to terrorism in our great country. But, unfortunately with recent matters in the Middle East... very concerned. sad.

Default Every Year

Every year, at this time, I have trouble sleeping. There are certain sights (obvious) and sounds that haunt me twenty years later. I remember afterwards, being down on the West Side Highway with the volunteers. The VAST majority of US citizens came together. Every car had a US flag attached to the window. There were lines of people que'd up to give blood. A short twenty years later and we are divided. The US Flag "triggers" some. Classrooms replace Old Glory with the LGBTQ+ flag. So very sad.

Thank you again for a beautiful shot and for a thoughtful reminder.

Thanks for the reminder…I am going to be there later today to donate blood. I will make a point to stop by.

By the way, there are still open slots for blood donations.

Beautiful. Never forget those who gave all that day.

Let's just hope certain factions don't advocate tearing it down.

Yes, living in the Village of Charlotte, I go by this memorial everyday and am so glad TV has this as a reminder. I saw volunteers placing hundreds of flags in front of the fire station yesterday as we remember those who sacrificed all for this act of terrorism.
And I hope we never have to build another memorial such as this one.
