I always look forward to seeing your photos. Thank you for sharing your gift.

This morning — even though I have a bunch of stuff I need to get to work on — your alligators caused me to spend the past 20 minutes reading up on alligator moms.

Of course, it all begins with their courtship and mating rituals. According to a Florida wildlife site, there are 3 phases.

Courtship begins with bellowing and head-slapping.

Then couples pair-up and touch snouts.

Finally, the couple — well. . .you know. . .the process lasts about 15 minutes and is repeated over several days.

(The article did not say if he calls later.)

I read somewhere that alligators are the only reptile that cares for their young. They hang out with mom for several months or until mating season rolls around again.
