Anolis, also known as anoles. They are a genus of small, American lizards with the ability to change color. They are native to the Americas and are part of the Dactyloidae family. With over 425 species, Anolis is the most species-rich genus of amniote tetrapods in the world. Adult anoles can grow to be 5–18 inches long, including their tail, and typically live around 4 years. Yes, but most of us call them “Geckos” probably because of a commercial. If I say “anole on my lanai screen” no one in my northern city seems to know what I’m talking about, like “is that some kind of mold?” but if I say “geckos on my porch screen” people nod with understanding.
