That is my guess, too.

Whatever it is, it is another fantastic picture.

Like so many other of your photos, this one invites captions. That look of surprise makes it look like you must have interrupted something private.

Definitely a turtle. I almost ran over a snapping turtle on a cart path recently. Stopped to help him off the road and nearly found out the hard way how they got their name.
