Default I gotta new Lens!

In a previous post I posted a panorama of a group golfing with Magnolia Plaza in the background. In that shot, they were at the tee, and here, I have a shot of them at the hole. (little tiny people almost in the middle of the shot.)

Behind them is the bank in Magnolia Plaza on Warm springs. This is a shot I was going to throw away. I took it just to see how well my new wide to midrange telephoto lens (Nikon Z 24-70 F4.0) would resolve a shot this far away. As a side note, I did not edit out the powerlines from this photo, since I was going to toss it. You can see them in the background.

To give you an idea, here is a crop of a tiny piece of the above photo. It shows the group on the hole and the bank across the road from them. I am a happy camper with this lens, it is amazing. This was taken handheld, not on a tripod, and it is still sharp.

I'm a Sony guy myself, but it stands true for most of the new mirrorless lenses - they are at a level not thought possible a few years ago and, while not cheap, are not in the stratosphere either.

Funny note, I shot with canon most of my life. A few years ago I inherited a nice Nikon kit. So I have been playing with it. Just now purchased a Nikon 7zII and a couple lens. It is an amazing piece of kit, but had I not inherited the earlier cameras I would be struggling with a Canon vs Sony decision now.

The new Sony mirrorless are amazing.
