Do you fold your pizza slice?

When did we start folding pizza? - Scotts Pizza Tours

I have never folded my pizza slices that I can recall.

Taking a break from watching Rami Malek and Denzel Washington's The Little Things which mentioned that a suspect must be from "back East" because he folds his pizza.

And this is a hard movie to watch.

Do you fold your pizza slice? I remember a few people doing this but not many. I am around a number of native New Yorkers (NYC) here in Lynnhaven.

I am a native Cheesehead born in Milwaukee but moved to Reno, Nevada when I was ten. Parents are from a suburb of Chicago.

Nope, not me.

Stu from NYC 05-13-2021 09:08 PM

Many years ago living in NY always folded the slice.

Pizza down here is not conducive to folding.

Wife is from Brooklyn and folds her pizza, me from NJ doesn’t. Pizza here is difficult to fold as different water from NYC.

When the pizza is so thin that you can't pick it up without the molten cheese dripping onto the plate, you fold it. It keeps the toppings on the pizza til you bite them off.

GrumpyOldMan 05-13-2021 10:04 PM

Doesn't that make it a calzone?

You cannot fold a Chicago cut pizza.

Ecuadog 05-13-2021 10:37 PM

Yup.

Garywt 05-13-2021 10:58 PM

I generally do, especially thin crust. Folding it helps keep the tip from drooping.

retiredguy123 05-13-2021 11:19 PM

I thought New Yorkers were the only people who folded their pizza. I never fold.

Folding is an amateur move, but not as bad as using a knife and fork!
In Boston, we eat it, not play with it.

It’s not a taco! Hold the tip up with the other hand and guide it into your mouth.

I started folding instinctively not knowing it was a thing when I lived in France because the crust there is thin. It would never occur to me to fold a slice of pan pizza.

We’re from NJ just outside NYC and have always folded our pizza, even as a little kid. Keeps the cheese from sliding off. NY Pizza down here is not New York pizza.

Im an exNew Yorker and never saw anyone eat pizza any other way except folding it. Yes, occasionally saw a very elderly person when I was young, eat it with a fork n knife. I was horrified. Its a regional thing. I notice some people looking at me when I eat it with my hands
