Road Rage Shooting on 466
In today's Daily Sun. Road rage on 466 which ended in a motorcyclist shooting into a car!
So this is what America's Friendliest Home Town looks like to the rest of the world - the media are going to have a field day with this one - first sex and now road rage. It's been a long hot summer, but this is ridiculous. |
The world;s too interested in our lasted public sex arrest to even notice something as minor as road rage.
|
The cause is breathing in all that damp humid hot summer air. It makes your brain moldy.
|
Why didn't the paper put the name and picture of the shooter in the paper? The shooter lived in the villages according to the newspaper. This is serious stuff.

The OTHER news venue is giving his name and he has a facebook page.
He is 67 and has pictures of him in some Law and Order shoot in New York. They may have picked him for his tattoos. He is from Bayside, Queens I think it said. |
Was the other person seriously hurt?
|
I figured it was just another slow left hand lane driver being culled from the road.

Motorist says he was coming up behind the motorist and tailgating him several times, then pulled in front of him abruptly and stopped, forcing the motorist to stop. Then the motorist blew a horn at him. There is a picture of him on his facebook page with a woman who he says works at the Harley Davidson dealership. (His girlfriend?) Anyway a "girlfriend" on another motor cycle also was involved in bedeviling this motorist who lives in The Villages. This guy shot out the motorist's back tire and light and then took off, but the cops got him. Lock him up and leave him locked up. |
This isn't some quaint little village. We are home to thousands and not exempt from idiots.
|
Isn't "being charged with a felony involving firearms" enough to have the carry permit revoked until disposition of the case? I hate to think such a loose cannon is walking around still carrying his pistol.
|
This guy was released after posting $10,000 bond, yet the two having sex are being held without bond in the Sumter County detention center.
|
Why is the bond so low (10K) for this type of offense?

Another macho nut with a gun.
|
My reasoning for having his picture in the newspaper . just maybe this guy would be shamed and shunned and it might cause him to move some place away from here. So they take away his gun, next time it could be a knife. JMO.

CR466 public road. I would imagine a lot of stuff goes on in day. Especially with all traffic, speeders, and inpatient drivers. probably now big deal in NYC, stray bullets flying every where and only problem when they hit someone.
IMO does make you not want to honk at people that cut you off, pull out in front of you, set at stop lights texting when the light has turned green for an eternity, run through stop signs when it's not their turn, pull in front of you then slam the brakes the turn, and the list goes on. You never know if some crazed idiot now days will shoot you, ball bat you, or drag you of the car and start wheeling on you! I only see this getting worse, but my glass is always half empty! |

Why. Guns went off in both cases! Unless one was shooting Blanks?:jester: |
This is my rifle and this is my gun! Remember?

I rode bikes for over 40 years and one of the constant concerns was being rear-ended by a 4-wheeler. Any biker that passes a car and hits his brakes hard is just a total moron. They won't survive long doing that kind of thing here considering the average age and reflex time, in addition to hard-nosed attitude, of many Villagers. When he gets wiped out, it will be improving the gene pool. There are too many good and generous bikers to let this idiot ruin the reputation of bikers in general. Many have had intensive safety training and are very aware that they are vulnerable.

And it most certainly is not the way TV looks to America....in other cities with far larger crime blotters than the TV, are they defined by what happened yesterday in the sheriff's department? I think not. Remember the news folks are looking for revenue and ratings. They want people to believe the world is a terrible place. It is not. It is a wonderful place with most of it's inhabitants doing and living in it right. It is too bad that our society dwells on, magnifies and elevates the very few that are nothing at all like the rest of us! |

In most cases his permit will be suspended and weapons seized. |
While living in Memphis, TN many years ago my son age 15 pulled from a side street and apparently a biker didn't like it and passed him by then circled around the block and came up to him and shot at his fender thankfully missing the kids in the car and secondly the block. My son worried about being yelled at did not say anything until the next morning. I called the sheriff who inspected the very large hole in my son's car left fender and stated it appeared to be from a magnum but since my son waited too much time had elapsed to do anything.
It would be naive' to believe that with over a 100,000 population and a good percentage of that population being renters that you are not going to get some very bad types. Having said that it is apparent from comments gleaned from this forum that some newbies actually believe they are moving to some kind of paradise and their expectations based on those comments support that notion. Clearly the overcrowding here has a direct and negative affect on many people. This is a continual scenario in Florida where there is a constant tension between those who seek managed growth and those who want to sell every piece of land that can accommodate building something. The competing voices for amenities, shopping, traffic flow, etc makes the quality of life that much less. Its a fact its actual |
The biker was lucky he tried that move with an unarmed Villager. If I had seen him pull his weapon and point it at my car, He'd have had a .40cal round coming his way.........

I hope that, in time, the details of what happened leading up to the incident, comes out. CR466 near Rolling Acres Rd. is a 4 lane road. If all that was involved was the desire for the motorcyclists to pass, they could easily have gone around the other vehicle, without a confrontation. It is likely that something provocative that hasn't been reported, yet, preceded the incident. Of course, regardless of what did precede the incident, the motorcyclist's action was not justified.
|
My understanding from the Village News report: no one was hurt...shot at the car and a tire. Lives in the Culmet Grove area. What's going on....are people going crazy. Some one beeps his horn at you and you retaliate with gun fire! Thought all the crazies lived outside the bubble!

HOLY COW! This appears to be the same guy!! Where did you find this Blueash?? I looked at his Facebook page Man Murders Wife Two Weeks After Using Power Saw On Her Harley April 13, 2010 at 2:05 pm by Morbid DUMONT, N.J. – When 54-year-old Debra Shanley did not show up to meet with the local Harley Owners Group (H.O.G.) for a Sunday morning ride, friends became worried. When she did not respond to phone calls or text messages, they called police. They had reasons to be concerned as she had told them that she wanted out of her 35-year marriage to 58-year-old Peter Shanley and he was not too pleased with that or her new interests. Debra, Dumont Board of Education member and Bergenfield High School teacher, had recently fulfilled a lifelong dream in the form of a a Harley-Davidson Fat Boy. Peter did not share Debra’s dream and destroyed the motorcycle with a power saw two weeks ago. When police arrived at the couple’s home on Sunday they found Peter Shanley conscious and on a bedroom floor with a laceration to the neck and a broken ankle. Debra was laying dead on the floor of another bedroom. She had been bludgeoned and stabbed to death. Pete was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center and later charged with murder. Image and video hosting by TinyPic Kind of a sad story when you think about it. Especially if you read the entire article I linked to. The couple seemed nice, and even Peter’s neighbors and employer have nothing but nice things to say about him. You get the feeling that he saw the writing on the wall and at 58, did not want to start a life alone – especially seeing as Debra was out and making new friends. An interesting thing I picked up on while reading the article was the account of her last day. It states that Debra had gone on a group ride that Saturday with a John Bibas. They went to dinner with two other bikers that night. Bibas states that hen went home to Oakland after eating and that Debra stayed out to get dessert. He then goes on to answer the logical question that immediately formed in my head when I read that, saying Debra was not romantically involved with any member of the motorcycle club. If she was or wasn’t doesn’t really matter at this point as I am guessing that Peter had grown suspicious and wasn’t happy with the direction their decades long marriage was headed. And did something heinous as a result.
