What is the best Villages restaurant

We are new to the Villages and love eating out. So far our favorites are the Lighthouse Point Bar and Grill and Palmer Legends.

At the Lighthouse we sat outside with an incredible view and had the Seafood grill with shrimp, scallop and haddock with lots of onion strings. All were cooked to perfection.

At Palmer Legends we had the petite filet with scallop and shrimp and the special twin lobster tails. All were cooked perfectly.

Where else should we try?

For Italian I love Little Joeys up North in TV. We also enjoy Eaton Beacn off of 42 I believe. Hurricaine is off 441 just over the Tavares line. Good pub grub and a neat setting. Bonefish and Carrabas never disappoint us. Oak wood for ribs or Bar be cue. These are not all right in TV but near enough.

We like Bonefish, Lopez Country Club and Glenview.
And Eaton's Beach (for the ambiance).

Give Honest John's a try!!

TomOB 06-21-2016 08:50 AM

Honest John's or go to Ocala or Mt. Dora for food with taste.

Taltarzac725 06-21-2016 09:12 AM

Enjoyed the trips to Mt. Dora and Pisces Rising. Pisces Rising | A Fresh Florida Seafood and Steak House

And Leesburg has Turner's Kitchen and Bar. Turners - Press

Turners - Location + Hours

In the Villages, we go to Bonefish Grill often. Bonefish Grill

Bonny 06-21-2016 09:13 AM

We are Cody's, City Fire & Honest John's people.

I pretty much like every place. ;) If I don't have to cook, it all works for me. LOL

We also like the Lighthouse. You should try

Stumpknockers

Dunnellon FL
The food was great! There are two in Fl., local owned.
it's about a 45 minute drive but worth it. you can go to there web site and view the menu.

I agree with Bonny. If someone else cooks and cleans up I'm all for it!
Especially like Fippers in SS for pizza. Oh and don't forget Chicken Salad Chick. Both great quick low key. Lopez for much more upscale, can't be beat.

HoosierPa 06-22-2016 05:29 PM

We had great meals recently at Chefs of Napoli on 301 (Italian) and Harry's in Downtown Ocala (Cajun)

Thanks for the great tip. Sounds great. Appreciate the advice.

Japanese Steakhouse in LSL

Chi-Town 06-23-2016 07:52 AM

For seafood - Bonefish
For steak - Lopez Legacy
For Italian - Giovanni's
For Asian - Thai Ruby

Generally,, to really get the best you have to leave The Villages proper.

msfooter 06-25-2016 05:22 AM

The taco trucks (Juanita's and Rio Verde) have move from Osceola Hills - does anyone now their new location?

aninjamom 06-25-2016 06:30 AM

Fiesta Grande in Colony Plaza is the best for Mexican and margaritas. The brothers who run it are very nice people!

Opmoochler 06-25-2016 09:50 AM

Havana CC overseen by same people as Lopez. Food is terrific!

Chatbrat 06-25-2016 11:59 AM

I would say a restaurant is great if my picture was on their website, and few comps don't hurt either

Comps would be good. How do you get them?

LuckySevens 06-25-2016 01:18 PM

We used to go to Fiesta Grande but we discovered Los Magueyes in Wildwood (in strip mall near Badcock furniture and Save A lot grocery). We LOVE their food and drinks a lot, and their prices are good too. Mango margaritas are delish!! Try them out.

paulascorpio 06-25-2016 08:54 PM

Mt Dora, The Goblin Market

bella2272 06-27-2016 06:24 AM

We love City Fire in Lake Sumter Landing. Everything on the menu is good.

davbrindle 06-27-2016 06:33 AM

Eating out

If you like seafood try St. John's Seafood on 27/441 across from Wal-Mart, good food and prices, if you're a vet they give you 10% off your bill

MrsPhil 06-27-2016 06:34 AM

Another super place "outside the bubble" is Ramshackle Cafe on 441 in Leesburg (right hand side, just before the split in the highway). Very unassuming exterior and parking is tight (pull into the hotel parking lot and come around the back for more options), but it's worth it. Wonderful taco salad and chimichangas, fabulous wings (with about a dozen options for glaze). Great food at reasonable prices and huge servings.

jblum315 06-27-2016 06:45 AM

Another thumbs up for Ramshackle Café. Don't be put off by the name/appearance, food and service are great. I love their fish and chips

bbbbbb 06-27-2016 06:48 AM

We like Sonnys and if the day there does not go well, call the manager after you leave and they will make an adjustment for the next visit, they put your name in a notebook for the next time, surprise.
Too Jays really went downhill for sure, really sad.
The two Chinese Buffets are really good and reasonable. One is Evergreen Pinellas Plaza, One is Southern Trace plaza, awesome!!!
Perkins has a senior 5 dollar breakfast, the ham and egger is awesome, biscuits available. The Chicken fry steak and baked potato is great if you each have that, we take part of it home, the baked potato is great, sliced and fried for breakfast in some olive oil.
The Longhorn restaurant, NY steak we had was awesome also.

Last time at Honest Johns was not good, will try again, maybe an off day or a sub chef????

caroleartchilds 06-27-2016 06:53 AM

Food at Cane Garden consistently good. Also Mallory, tho it seems to be spotty lately. Love Bonefish, Carrabbas and Outback.

Buckeye Bob 06-27-2016 07:18 AM

Square 1 Burgers @ Pinellas.

Twofour6 06-27-2016 07:35 AM

If you're willing to leave TV for great food, we found an English themed restaurant in Mt. Dora called The Windsor Rose Tearoom. It's run by Marsha and Paul Goodale.
Check their website Windsor Rose Tea Room and Restaurant | A relaxing escape to British tradition in beautiful downtown Mount Dora, Florida to check their menu.

Evergreen was shut down by the health department recently for an infestation of insects/vermin.

Tzman145 06-27-2016 07:58 AM

Giovanni's at Southern Trace for Italian..........Little Joey's is good too.

Lighthouse is really good & prices are pretty good, but Palmer is a little rich for me. As far as Country Clubs, I like Nancy Lopez, again don't eat there all the time a little rich for my blood. We eat at least one meal out everyday. Actually for a quick lunch Panera is the most reasonable!

Mootsino 06-27-2016 09:13 AM

Where to eat

Chefs of Napoli in wildwood, Bamboo bistro, Palmer legends, Nancy Lopez, lighthouse grill get the shrimp and grits! Carrabas, bonefish grill, ricciardis
