I got it to work! Thanks. Does anyone know if any eagles ever came back to the preserve near Liberty Park. I heard they left when the tornado went thru in 2007.

That's cool and will be especially neat after the eggs hatch out. However, I got a little dizzy after watching it for awhile with the tree swaying in the wind...lol Thanks for sharing!

I haven't seen any eagles in the preserve since the tornado. Doesn't mean they're not there, though, as I only drive by. The area remains appropriate for the birds, but there aren't that many of them around to begin with.

Thanks, Barefoot. I'm putting a tickler on my calendar for early March to start looking for the babies! The slide show of Momma and Papa Eagle on the same web page is also very nice. BTW, my Mom and much of my family hails from Norfolk, VA. I sent my Mom the link. Thanks again.

I'm happy that some of you are enjoying this website. I have it as an icon on my desktop and check in daily. I find something quietly therapeutic about watching this eagle awaiting the birth of her babies.

I was watching today and I think something is getting ready to happen - I'm so excited to see this. She is really moving around alot on the nest and I could see the eggs underneath her while she was repositioning. :coolsmiley:

I've been watching pretty much non stop and I saw the cracked egg but I can't see the baby eagle. Is it in the egg still...I'm not sure how this all works...lol Is she laying on it? I'm so excited but I want to see the baby!

Yes, still in egg. BTW, it is HE who is laying on it. They take turns, but it has been Daddy this afternoon, including when he got up and you could see the cracked egg. This is soooo exciting. He is really moving around a lot, panting and sometimes tightening up the nest to keept he eggs warm!

Hi cuz! Stay tuned to web cam. First feeding will probably be in a couple hours. Initially, they get nourishment from the egg, according to the site.

OMG, did you see the eaglet!!! How many eggs are left in the nest?? I love that the students are interacting. I'd love to be there with them watching.

In some ways, we are. They are in classrooms watching the webcam, like us. There are two unhatched eggs left. :wave:

OMG, OMG, OMG Did you see it cuz. The second one just hatched. Mom stood up and watched. You could see the whole thing. I've got goosebums!!

I missed the second one - darn it. Too bad it won't rewind like Tivo..lol

Well the site hasn't announced the second one. Maybe what we just saw was the first one coming out of it's shell more. Stay tuned...

I was surprised when someone said on here it had hatched because it was laid several days later - I thought maybe it would be a few more days for it and then a few more days for the third one. I can't see the interaction with the school children since I"m here at work so I'm looking forward to that when I get home. I'm lucky the webcam itself isn't blocked and that I can watch it...it does feel a little voyueristic to watch however but so amazing.

Oh, I missed it while I was over there posting in the political forum...I've emailed my sister who is as nerdy as Miss Jane on the Beverly Hillbillies when it comes to bird watching. I've been watching my email to see if she has seen this yet. She'll be THRILLED. This is addictive. I'll be dark soon and we can't watch until tomorrow. Hurry and bring food to the nest!!!

I just saw it. And then saw the eagle fly out of the nest. I know this sounds corny, but wasn't it moving to see the eagle look at the baby when it stood up. Backed up and moved forward and peered down. I loved that. Like, "just checking on you down there little one."

Both eagles are there now. Look.

The cam panned out and what a shot. You can see one eagle in the nest and the other on a nearby tree limb waiting. Like an expectant father in the waiting room! Only I think this father is waiting to get something to eat. I'm so grateful to you for posting the link to this amazing site!!

Yea, and as soon as she got back on, Dad came back. He didn't bring food though. Must not be feeding time yet...
