Starbucks Trailwinds

I went to Starbucks Trailwinds today.
Lobby was closed. New drive thru hours are until 3 pm and
closed on Thursday. I asked and it’s due to staffing shortages.
Oh and the prices went up again.

How are people NOT working??

jdulej 01-05-2022 05:32 PM

One possible partial (at least) reason - A lot of households with two working parents realized during the pandemic that they could get along (even without assistance) on one salary but no daycare costs. And, it's usually better for the kids as well.
I wonder how the daycare business has been doing the past 6 months or so?
This might really be a good thing long term

Buckeyephan 01-05-2022 05:42 PM

Starbucks put through new Covid rules. By January 10 employees must provide vaccination proof or have weekly testing.

I think employees need to pay for testing too.

Absolutely agree, especially for those who refuse to be vaccinated.

466 is only opened a few hours a day as well and Lake Sumter closes at 1PM every day this week. My granddaughter and grandson both work for SBX in NJ and what is happening is so many employees are testing positive they don't have enough staff to stay opened regular hours. Company policy is 5 days home. It is wrecking havoc with scheduling. If they are not "fully vaccinated" they have to test weekly and pay for it themselves. Article below:

I agree skip the vaccine then pay for testing. My son’s corporation has required the approved Covid Vaccine for employees although they have a choice unvaccinated medical insurance has been increased $200 monthly and must obtain weekly tests on their own time. Also his Military Reserve unit requires mandatory Covid and boosters, 7 were discharged for failure to comply.

Good. We need to stick to the rules!

Buckeyephan 01-05-2022 09:54 PM

It is interesting that the vaccinated don’t need to test even though they can still get the variant and pass it on. Several friends and family members have experienced this. So what good is all of this doing if the asymptomatic person handing me my latte has been vaxed and is wearing a cloth mask?

NotGolfer 01-06-2022 05:57 AM

So it's been long enough into this thing to see some things happening. Get vaccinated yet some people are still getting the plague. Then get a booster but they some of those folks are getting the plague or variant. BUT wear a mask and keep 6 ft away and get a vaccination or booster.....then we'll all be safe. Two years ago we were told to batten down the hatches for 2 weeks THEN we'll get back to normal. Hasn't happened yet!! Doesn't something sound weird here or is it just me?? There was a piece on t.v. last night about workers or lack there-of. Apparently they still can get $$$ for not working. Is this true??

donassaid 01-06-2022 05:58 AM

You mean for those who don't follow the fake science? Look it up. The number of deaths worldwide has remained at a constant .76% for the past 3 years. So much for a worldwide Pandemic. Or haven't you noticed that the vast majority of those getting Covid today are those who took the jab - NFL, NBA, NHL, cruise ship crew and passengers. Wake up and smell tge coffee!

tsmall22204 01-06-2022 06:05 AM

Staff shortages are often because positive covid cases. Dont blame the business when the real culprit are those who choose not to get vaccinated and infect everyone else.

yet a large number are the ones that got the vax, in particular mRNA. Also if you look at vax technology and trends, a vaccine is not a guarantee you won't get whatever you are vaccinated for, it is merely added protection. Every person's body is different there is no such thing as a 1 thing cures all solution. This is much like that Blood clot BS , any vaccine can cause that, J&J isn't the only one, the mRNA have had plenty of cases of clots.

My apology
I’m sorry that I’ve taken such good care of myself my whole life by eating properly and exercising, that I’m now a bad person because I’m not vaccinated. Unless someone can tell me THE LONG TERM AFFECTS.....YOU get the vaccine......I’ll stay healthy be no putting anything foreign in my body

No, I haven't noticed. Nor has anyone who notices the FACTS. In Ohio and Texas, with surging "cases", 85% of the hospitalizations and 95% of the ICU admissions for COVID are the UNvaccinated. Is anyone brewing their coffee NOW??????

How are people NOT working??

Simple. If you pay people to sit on their a$$es--don't be surprised if they do what you pay them to do.

Close them all - no loss

Joanne D 01-06-2022 07:34 AM

If you only listen to FOX NEWS you will follow their guidance and "DON'T LOOK UP" at the reality that those who are not vaccinated are the ones getting and spreading COVID. The vaccinated may get it but it will most likely not kill them. The vaccine is not poison it is protection. LOOK UP!!!

merrymini 01-06-2022 07:39 AM

Vaccinations do not protect you from getting covid.

There's a bigger agenda here with this vaccine all one need do is read between the lines. You may want to read RFK Jrs. book on Fauci, Gates and Big Pharma. Holy mackerel it's an eye opener! Read about "Mass Formation Psychosis"too. To search for it you may not want to use Google instead use "DuckDuckGo"

You are kidding, right. Over 800,000 dead from COVID in the USA, over 5 million around the world. Get vaccinate, wear masks.

RFK on vaccines - completely fake.

Dartconv64 01-06-2022 07:55 AM

Don’t Look Up

That’s funny that you used that movie as a reference. You should go back and read the book, I think it was based on Chicken Little. I also think you missed some important sub plots that pointed out that both sides politicized an issue, used fear tactics to their advantage, and put monetary gain over everyone’s best interest. Abuse of power by a corrupted ultra wealthy ruling class who put self interest above all.

Ski Bum 01-06-2022 07:59 AM

Does anyone know how to make their own coffee anymore? Folgers is just fine by me. Set the timer and it's hot and ready!

I get the overall point though. COVID, and our reactions to it, (paying people to sit home, vaccines, closures, etc.) has changed our lives. And for the most part, we've done it to ourselves.

When are we going to address the root of the problem so it doesn't happen again? Where did COVID come from?

TRUE. It’s design is to make the infection less severe same with annual flu shot, shingles shot, pneumonia shot and hopefully keep you out of the hospital.

justjim 01-06-2022 08:00 AM

It has been estimated that approximately 15% of the population have a phobia about needles. They use other excuses for not getting vaccinated. Given that and all the other conspiracy theories floating around in social media this “Covid thing” could be the new normal for a long while. No words.

justjim 01-06-2022 08:06 AM

McDonalds coffee is pretty darn good for less than a buck including tax. I don’t know about others but we worked too many years to throw money away except maybe on special occasions. Our coffee pot at home makes darn good coffee too.

In order to attract new employees businesses and you will have to pay more or go without .

If unvaccinated people are infecting vaccinated, explain how fully vaccinated crew and fully vaccinated passengers (pre-tested negative), all quarantined on the ship, are now testing positive.

Interesting that the failure of the vaccines is being blamed on the unvaccinated. 🤔

My wife works part time at a women's boutique. EVERYONE is vaccinated and boosted. Yet two employees tested positive last week...

So tell me, who's the "real culprit"? They are now short handed and everyone is scrambling to get tested... It took my wife 5 days to schedule a test (which was negative, btw...)
