Squatter Solution

If you have a squatter in your house, you can lease your house to a squatter hunter. The squatter hunter can then legally move into your house and make life so miserable for the squatters that they will gladly move out. I think it is a great idea to solve the problem without spending months and thousands of dollars in a civil court.

Check out "Squatterhunter.com" and his YouTube videos.

And we care about squatters...why? Squatters are not a problem for me and doubt they ever will be. Do you have squatter problems or just worry about a lot of stuff that rarely happens to normal people?

fdpaq0580 03-18-2024 10:50 PM

Vivisection! Take them to The House of Pain!

Sounds like a major liability calamity waiting to happen.

Many people in TV own homes elsewhere. In FL one can not take someone's homestead in a civil law suit but hey... second homes and toys now that's another story.

Bringing in a third party to make life miserable for someone needing to be evicted using the courts... yeah have fun with that lol.

MikeN 03-19-2024 05:35 AM

Is this an issue in The Villages or just a talking point?

Susan1717 03-19-2024 05:43 AM

Our great governor in Florida just passed a bill that now gives police the right to immediately remove squatters without months of attorneys and court costs. Every state should do this.

Squaters Rights

Having to have had to go through (in Pennsylvania) an eviction of a squatter, 4 months, Legal Fees to go to court (above the local Magistrate had to be done by an Attorney) and property damages. This change in Florida is a God send to property owners.

When did this pass?

What is the state statute?

I did not hear about this? This would be much quicker then the eviction process.

If I’m in a house I own, and somebody comes into my house while I’m in it or especially with my family, without my permission, isn’t it lawful to shoot them? Read the ‘castle doctrine’ or ‘stand your ground’ law. These days with criminals always having guns, I probably won’t waste time asking if they have a gun or if they are going to hurt us

The thread is about squatters.

I think the bill passed in the Senate, but it has not yet passed in the House, so it is not a statute. It is Florida House Bill 621.

Andyb 03-19-2024 06:50 AM

I’ll just use Smith and Wesson.

Found it! It is not law yet (that is why it is not in the statutes) It is a House Bill. It goes into effect July 1, 2024--and it cuts out all the mischief from squatters who generate and print out a fake lease and then demand to be evicted...long overdue and welcomed change to the statute.

Normal 03-19-2024 07:23 AM

There are squatters, but mostly in the new build areas.

You’re talking apple and oranges. Squatters vs home invasion. Read the posts closer

Oh I don’t know if I would let a squatter move into your home in TV’s I really don’t think that’ll go over well there. But maybe you’re not talking about TV’s. Are you considering an illegal as a squatter. I would think about that very hard!

I don't understand your post. No one would allow a squatter to move into their house. Most people want to get rid of squatters.

airstreamingypsy 03-19-2024 08:17 AM

I don't need no steenkin' squatter hunter.... I can make someone's life so miserable to want to move out. Just ask my ex husband.

RickyLee 03-19-2024 08:41 AM

Don't know that there will be a trial date, sometimes you have to lose to win

Why do we even have this problem ? Seems like criminals have all the rights.

They come in all shapes and sizes. A squatter can be a “temporary” live-in partner, a homeless worker in the new builds, a drug abuser living on land the Developer bought, someone who moved into a new build that hasn’t sold yet. The squatter is around.

Anecdotal evidence abounds. It can be the squatters that were found in the Leesburg restaurant last month, or the simple shoves of homeless moving out as development moves in. We had a homeless encampment that was near the corner of 44 and Morse a few months back discussed on another thread.

I feel sorry for most in the situation, not everyone got a break in life.

Both S&W 500 in one night stand and Glock 40 in the other. If anyone makes trouble, then it’s trouble they will get.

Soooo…….what’s your alternative??? A “pretty please move out”?? Or maybe just sign over the house or share it with them?? Of course this is could just be part of the redistribution of the wealth of those entitled dual home owners who worked their a55es off to afford the home.

Most references to squatters mean people who illegally move into and take possession of your home while you are out of town. This should not be tolerated in any way by government/police whose responsibility it is to enforce property rights. It should not need to involve drawn out legal fights.

You can feel sorry for those who did not get a break in life, but they still don't have the right to steal anyone's house.

Where were Smith, Wesson, Ruger, Glock and associates the other night when the lady was being abducted? Talk is cheap.

Was the lady a client of their's? I personally go with Sig and Sauer over S&W. More reliable but that's just an opinion.

Agree.

It's Big Hat, no cattle.

Guns are not going to help with squatters.
