I think I need an intervention
It's official, I am hooked on TOTV. I find myself 'visiting' my computer waaay too many times a day, just to see if there are any new posts. After checking the posts, I then go on to "THEVILLAGES.COM" just to look at all of the new listings, both new construction and pre-owned. It's gotten so bad, I turned the volume down on my speakers so my husband can't hear the Villages theme song...help!! :22yikes: The first step to getting help is recognizing you have a problem, upside to that is realizing that there is a solution...all it's going to take is to sell everything and retire...see you soon and keep the posts coming!

I've been "addicted" for 2.5 years... and you know what? I DON'T WANT ANY HELP with my addiction!! I don't think anyone can help me. I LOVE my addiction!! Just go with it. Relax and let it consume you. Let it take it's course and the solution will appear some day! I'm still a wanna'-be, gonna'-be as well.

I've been hooked for a long time and I don't want help. It's helped me preserve what sanity I have as a wannabee to hopefully a gonabee to frog.
It helps me feel connected to TV. :) |
Yep. I have the TOTV bug too. I guess it is because I WANT OUT OF ILLINOIS.
|
whew...I'm relieved...so, you're saying it's perfectly normal to have a picture of the Villages as my wallpaper on my computer and my friends eyes glazing over when I start talking about moving?? Actually, I was kinda lyin...I don't want help either! ;)

I'm in too........addicted.......good thing I work......

Hi Trish,
Addiction to TOTV is good for you. I hope. :plane: |
Looks like enough people here to start a 12 step program.
Hello, my name is Bob and I have a problem. |

Welcome to "The Club", Trish! :highfive: |
reminds me of something funny I saw one day (and no, I'm not making fun of alcoholics..heck, I may be one someday)...anyway, I was passing a medical building with a bunch of people on the front lawn, sitting around in lawn chairs. Above their heads was a huge banner "ALCOHOLIC'S ANONYMOUS MEETING"...umm...kinda defeats the whole anonymous thing, doesn't it??? Hey..it appears that we have started another club (just what the Villages needs!)...TOTVA....Talk of the Villages Anonymous!

I even have a CountDown Clock on my computer that keeps up with Months, Days, Hours, Minutes and Seconds until we turn into frogs. Glad to have TOTV to make this whole thing REAL! Otherwise, I would think it is just a dream!!
10 MONTHS 1DAY, 3HRS, 22 MINS AND 10 SECONDS and we are on our way! (the last of school) |
Mine started several years ago. It developed into a nightly ritual. I , too, turn the sound off. Cannot wait to get the house sold and move to TV!

It happens to the best of us :D
I can relate to everything you said! I too had to resort to muting the speakers so the Village jingle doesn't give away the fact that I am once again visiting the village site. :024: Can't wait  for the day I can LIVE it instead of just read about it. |

Yes it is, swimdawg - - - but then that leads you down another dark path........... Bill :) |
Sorry... I'm no help to you either! When we secured our property, all I can think of is The Villages and as I fondly call them... "The Village People" I check TOTV on my phone during the day to see if there are any new posts... I already feel I know these people and can't wait to get down there to meet them!!!
Hi... My name is Angie and I have been off the sight for oh... maybe 2 hours at a time.... *bowing head* I'm sooo ashamed! :ohdear: |
253 days but whose counting
Thank you thank you thank you. I thought it was just the wife and I that had gone nuts. We wake up in the mornings and talk about TOTV and TV. This is Saturday and we have spent at least 6 hours on this forum. The folks on here have fabulous advice. By the time we get there I will know who to call for everything. I know the next 9 months will fly by but we can't wait to come down December 13 and finalize the house plan on the lot already picked out. We are spending all of our time talking about the villages. We can't wait to drink the kool-aide and become Frogs. :posting: I can't wait to meet all of you folks in person.

Being addicted to TOTV means that when you get up to pee during the night, you check the website for new threads! :posting:
|
It is fun, isn't it. You work your whole life then resign yourself to retire and age gracefully...then someone tells you about TV. I've posted before that my husband swore he would never, ever move to Florida, now he's telling everyone! I'm looking forward to my first TOTV meeting!!

Yup, its definitely catching! I've lurked around TOTV for almost 2 years, having persuaded hubby that this is the perfect place to retire in. We moved l6 months ago and now have permanent smiles. Life is very good. We are blessed. Sandra

Guilty as charged

Add me to the group.
From a wannabe, make that a will be... My friends who live in TV tell me I know more about TV than they do. See you all at Crispers and more one day! Quote:

me too...
AT first it was curiousity and then I wanted to learn everything and see if TV was as good as it sounded, but now I am full out hooked and do enjoy getting to know many by their posts. It helps to keep my hope alive since we must wait for now. Really what I have learned here has been invaluable in that I feel I will be so much ahead of the game when we finally can make it to TV. Thanks all!
To Bare I don't check in the mid of the night but when I can't sleep I have gotten very late to give my mind a rest. Yes, I do turn off the sound so my hubs doesn't always know ow oftenI visit the sights.chilout |
Hi my name is Dan and I'm a TOTV addict. My addiction has gotten much worse after we purchased our home in Buttonwood. I blame my addiction on those TOTV members ( you know who you are ) who enable me by their clever, continuous and witty posts - not to mention their PM's.
While trying to relax at home here in MA, there are times I hear beckoning calls from other TOTV members coming through my walls telling me to sign on to TOTV because I'm missing yet another important new post. I've learned to fight the urge, but now that my wife, Floss, has her own TOTV ID, she has enabled me to surrender to the urge to check for "new" TOTV post. In the end, there are worse addictions to have....I hope! |

Just as quilty as some of the rest. Have'nt moved there yet but in process of prepping to sell house in Massachusetts to go on market. On here to learn as much as possible about our future in TV.
|
I think I figured out why I have this need to check out TOTV...it's like I have a bunch of friends sitting around my dining room table talking about my favorite place in the world and I have to keep checking in to see what's being talked about..
|
Trish, As you can see you are not alone.
"TV Envy" is a serious ailment and can only be relieved by periodic visits to The Villages and eventual FROG status. I plan to find relief in late 2012........... |
Trish
Oh I forgot to mention that when I first developed my addiction I would keep the live web cam up esp in the winter and see all those wonderful peeps dancing at the squares or running around in their golf carts! That just made the cold and the snow even worse! :cryin2:

OK! I will admit it! I too am an addict! I am addicted to TV, TOTV and anything with TV in it! I thought I could end it all by buying a house...we make settlement next month...I go over to my new home DAILY...just a drive by... and I love it more and more... I have even stopped total strangers throughout the neighborhood and introduced myself...I hope this feeling of total happiness never ends...indeed, I AM A VILLAGER...I AM A VILLAGER...:2excited:
|
We have been here 3 years this month and I am still excited. I am compulsive about getting my work done (reports, preps for presentations etc) before I allow myself to play. So for more than a year before we bought I would get on TOTV after my work wTOTVIt was extremely informative and helped immensely in making the choice of The Villages and the house choice as well. I also had friends when I moved here. Could not be happier. I tell everyone about it.

There are worse things than TOTV addiction. I have less time for gambling, excessive alcohol, hoarding, and hard drugs! I do have recurring nightmares of Gracie forcing cookies down my throat, PTurner cutting me with sarcasm, and Bill and Brillo forcing my computer to go down due to excessive links. My name is Ed and I am a TOTVaholic.
