Obama's new target..."Congress"....
if the so called partisan loggerhead(s) are the current excuse for not being able to get things done....why did he not breeze through all the things he wanted when it was all Dem controlled???
I truly believe he thinks he is a catalyst, a thinker, a talker, a promiser and that it is up to everyone else to do something. I further believe he really feels he has addressed an issue/problem when he speaks about it...then he is done. What else could one conclude when most of what he says or promises just hits the floor when he leaves the microphone or the teleprompter stops scrolling. He cannot assess leadership since he has never lead. This is not bashing, it just happens to be the as-is persona/capability (or not) of the man. He talked his way into the WH...I guess in some fashion they all do, but some do deliver on SOME of what they talked about. Obama's can point to multi billion $$$$ stimulous programs and Obama care...one of which did not work and the other will not work. Just listen as he puts "congress" between him and getting the job done... btk |
Norman Thomas
(U.S. socialist presidential candidate)
"The American people will never knowingly adopt socialism. But,under the name of "liberalism," they will adopt every fragment of the socialist program, until one day America will be a socialist nation, without knowing how it happened." Ladies and gentlemen, it is happening right now, and within a few short years, we will be worse off then Europe. |

Wow, Vgolfer I love the way you get from being a socialist nation to calling a guy a communist. No commonality,no link,no proof so what. If you say it it must be true.

I hate calling anybody anything, but I would prefer "collectivist". The difference is the socialists believe in equality of result. Libertarians believe in equality of opportunity. That is how this country was founded and how it has prospered.

Well there is a difference. Marx said that socialisim ("dictatorship of the proletariat") was the path towards communism. Communism being a classless, stateless society. Neither seems particularly attractive to me. As I have said, this is equlaity of result. I am all for equality of opportunity.
|
As I have said he is trying to create a dictatorship. Get the people scared then give away the bank and get the people on your side then discredit the other governing bobies and presto you gotem. I hope this dosent happen. We the people cant be that dum.

One common trait I see around here is that most conservatives will attack politicians or other public figures. Liberals cannot control their rage at people who disagree with them, therefore they attack fellow posters. I'm not saying that conservatives don't attack, but it is usually in self-defense.

Inane...No substance...Not the way I remember it...
I did notice that almost all the threads and topics on this political forum have been "hijacked" by a very few, extremists. they appear to have no room for reality as perceived by others (difference of opinion). I see the same tired rhetoriic and talking points the tea party uses continuously, God,Guns, no government..Hate inspired talk by a few misguided individuals, that are willing to destroy this country, just to make Obama a one term president. I've seen it first hand by neighbors with some really disgusting attempts at humor, all of it racist and hateful..As a Vietnam vet,I can say, "They" have the same color blood as us..BTW, the democratic party is alive and well in the Villages. We are becoming a nation of two trades...Burger flippers and warriors..We can kill, bomb, better than anyone, some out of necessity..On the other hand when someone mentions giving a helping hand to feed and educate, You say oh no, we can't have big government..We need to buy hundreds of planes(F22 raptors) at a tune of hundreds of millions of dollars and THEY DON'T FLY. OH BUT WAIT,WE CAN'T LOOK AT DEFENSE SPENDING,THAT'S OFF LIMITS..RUBBISH. How many of you patriots have held a firearm in harms way and stood a post? I have, and it's a lonely existence, but one to learn from. For the tea party I say look at history, look at the COPPERHEADS..the last attempt to undermine a country, and they nearly did..(Dems too). Learn from histoy, look for common ground, and demonstrate a willingness to consider the other side's opinion...finally, "Of course FASCISM will arrive in this country, it will be disguised as PATRIOTISM".......Huey Long |

I would be very careful about boasting about being a Vet around here. You might be very surprised and humbled by the credentials of some posters here.:crap2: |
I'm not going to address all your rambling and ranting HRP, except to say that for some reason you have this all turned around in your mind.
For we conservatives it the 2 political parties who have lost their way, and most particularly the Democrat Party you are enamored of. The Tea Party only came into existence because of the vast federal overreach of our government and our lives. The Tea Party didn't form a "political party" per se, but seeks to transform the Republican Party, which is far closer in ideals, into a party to again represent the people who make this country great and to get off their backs as much as possible. If you read your own post you will see you have a hate and anger evident in almost every sentence and then you are the one "to throw stones". You should be able to share your ideas without the wholesale attacks on all of those who you have a difference of opinion with. It quite unbecoming. |

Who would you guys like me to forward the racist/hateful email I get from "some of your tea party villagers to?
I certainly hope there was no implied threat with that notice of my need to "be careful"...I don't think so pal... |

Racist hate mail from Villagers? Why would anyone send you racist hate mail; particularly Villagers? A little fanciful, in my opinion. |

More stereotyping...? 3 of my 4 brothers-in-law are vets, one of which is still a Lieutenant Commander in the United States Navy. 4 of my 5 nephews are vets, one is still making a career of it and another was Army Airbornne in the Kuwait fight. His job was to crawl thru the desert at night with razor wire in his hand. His mom, my sister, has been an RN in the Army Reserves for the last 20 years. When her two sons were in the Middle East, she was called up to go also! ALL OF THESE ARE STRONG TEA PARTY SUPPORTERS! ...so, hrp01, what exactly is your point? |
I think he was referring to my post about being careful:

It was in no way a threat. Are we paranoid today? |

As usual, you guys did not address one point of my post...You chose to make it personal..I do believe the tea party is racially motivated and like I said,I have had several emails from friends, yes in the villages, that are tea party members or supporters, and they are inundated with raciall hatred. All points I mentioned about looking for common ground and looking for the other's opinion, military waste, corporate corruption, did you not read that, or is that not on your agenda or one of your talking points? And yes I'll address illegal immigration and welfare reform, both direly needed..How's that for common ground?
|
Q
The Tea Party is a reaction to taxes and the direction of this country. Race is not on their agenda. Racism or prejudice has been around for a long time and it involves all political parties. The democrats were heavily involved with the Ku Klux Klan. West Virginia democrat Senator Robert Byrd was an organizer for the Klan.
Do you remember the e-mails going around about Clarence Thomas? How about Condoleezza Rice? Does that make the democrats racist? |

More bigotted blanket statements about the Tea Party? Aren't you accusing them of what you indeed are doing here? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bigot_(disambiguation)A bigot is a prejudiced person who is intolerant of any opinions differing from their own or intolerant of people of different political views, ethnicity, race, class, religion, profession, sexuality or gender. |

you are right about the comments made in the past about Rice and Thomas..No room for either in my opinion...But like I said, not one response to any of the points...still sticking to the topic talking points spewed by the tea party..No room for any common ground anywhere, one term,no matter what the cost/damage to our country...

I smell chum on the water and hear trolling. They always seem to have the same method of stirring the pot. Must not be anything for them to watch on the tube. Then there are the folks who return with a new ID to do some taunting. btk |

You're right about the number of posts...I have QUIETLY been observing this forum for awhile and see it permeated with the same rhetoric over and over..Time for the other side to open our mouths a little..We have been quiet for too long and screwed up the mid term elections as a result...NO MORE

village golfer, no I'm not a troll...Just tired of listening to the diatribe spewed by you and your cronies...I am seriously considering a Republican, but not a chance in Hades I'll vote for a George Bush clone or one of the right wingers fronting for your party right now...If you put a moderate up there I'll vote for him/her..I'm not a lover of Obama but certainly not ready to step back to the stone age either...Alll INCUMBENTS OUT...how about that? Do that for three elections and we'll impose term limits and at the same time do away with professional/corrupt politicians in love with the corporate world and not looking out for constituent's best interest...
