Old TGIFriday's

Does anyone know what is going into the old TGIF? We sure do miss it. Hopefully it will have something different to what is already in the Villages

Bonny 12-27-2013 01:07 PM

Yes, it will be something different. No decision yet on what kind of restaurant, but it should be open in February.

Thanks Bonny - gives us something to look forward to!

keithwand 12-27-2013 01:44 PM

Vic Embers would be nice.

eremite06 12-27-2013 02:54 PM

A Harry's Seafood would really be nice.

billethkid 12-27-2013 07:46 PM

hopefully it will be one that knows and undestands the very simple rules of restruant survival/success.

Bonny 12-28-2013 08:04 AM

Yes, they have a lot of restaurant experience.

hoopsterdad 12-28-2013 08:15 AM

from a couple of former employees that are at eaton's beach, including an ex manager, told us that it is going to be a brazilian style steak house.

Yummy :)

I heard the same thing from Eaton's Beach.

Cisco Kid 12-28-2013 09:01 AM

i think we're gonna need a bigger plate.

I don't think that's happening. We'll see what they end up deciding on.

Bonny...You seem to have knowledge that you're holding back. C'mon. Fess up. Inquiring minds want to know!

My Daily Run 12-28-2013 10:58 AM

I heard it was the owners of Evans Prairie, Bonifay, and Scoople that were going to open it as a steak restaurant but with the great steaks at Cody's and The Japanese Steak House I am surprised that the Villages would allow another steak place...we shall see.

Yorio 12-28-2013 11:06 AM

I second the motion on Harry's Seafood to give Bonefish some competition but this comment wouldn't probably move Harry's or our management. For us driving to Ocala is too far having become too lazy to drive beyond Village proper.

justjim 12-28-2013 11:28 AM

Another Seafood restaurant would be nice. I think Bonefish is over-rated. Oops---did I say something negative?

Yorio 12-28-2013 11:46 AM

justjim - you are right about Bonefish but where else for Seafood would you go?

Yes, it's the owners of Evan's Prairie, Bonifay & Scooples. A steakhouse isn't something they are looking at. Whatever it is, I'm sure will be great.

buggyone 12-28-2013 12:13 PM

I would really doubt if a Brazillian style steakhouse would attempt a place here. They usually cost around $40 or more for the dinner and Villagers (main customers for a restaurant here) do not like paying that much - or eating that much. Those places do not provide boxes for leftovers, either!

hoopsterdad 12-28-2013 08:34 PM

on lake weir, google eaton's beach.

Lbmb24101 12-29-2013 01:00 AM

Yummy for sure but this type of eatery will be pricey, not the type of place one will be able to frequent often.
And the brazilian steakhouses i have seen that are on the less expensive side, are usually not worth it.
Let's cross our fingers and hope this one will be decent and gooood.....

rn1tv 12-29-2013 04:10 PM

Not sure how Eaton's got in this post...Food at Eaton's is very good however service is hit and miss. Drinks are overpriced. If you go, try the gumbo...it is to die for!

travelguy 12-29-2013 04:23 PM

I sure could go for a Joe's Crab Shack! Am sure that would be a big hit at Lake Sumter Landing.

marianne237 12-29-2013 05:31 PM

Sure would love to see something new other than what we already have. A Joe's crab shack would fill that bill .... even Captain D's for that matter. Even better would be a White Castle!!!

Bonny 12-29-2013 09:11 PM

You can forget about all the other chains. Ain't gonna happen. Already has owners.

SALYBOW 12-29-2013 09:19 PM

We went this past Saturday night. Arrived at 5:15 - food was in front of us at 7:10. Food wasn't bad, but not good enough to wait 2 hours.

jbdlfan 12-30-2013 08:53 PM

A third Mojos would be the best! Save plenty of people the drive.

zcaveman 12-30-2013 09:32 PM

Amazing - 30 responses and nobody has yet to mention -- HOOTERS!!

I agree that a Mojos would be great .... but their is already 3 ... 2 in Ocala and 1 in Belleview.

Duckfinger2 01-01-2014 11:03 PM

Twin Peaks would be nice, or Buffalo Wild Wings

keithwand 01-02-2014 09:11 AM

Is Twin Peaks another name for Hooters?

There's only one in Ocala on 17th now. With the way they are growing, they could easily handle the business. Best food in the area, hands down.
