Breakfast

Had breakfast at Rae Rae's this morn . First time in many months. Don't know why we stayed away so long. Bacon ,Eggs and blueberry biscuit for her. Eggs Benedict for me. Really nice service, prep excellent, large portions, reasonable price.

Hard to beat at any price.

And I might add -- far better than Darrell's Diner, the king of portion control!

Darrell's is not even close (IMHO)

Rae Rae's is excellent
I ordered eggs Benedict at KeKe'sand the chef managed too make a poached egg with hard cooked yolk and runny white. Can't imagine how that was done Takes real talent!

If you order 2 eggs, 2 sausage links, home fries, and 2 pieces of toast at Darrell's, how big should the portions be? That is a big breakfast. Most people have no idea what a "portion" is.

Got to love it when people complain about portions, would you be happy if the server carried your food in a wheel barrow

Its a shame when too many villagers fit this description "the men look pregnant & the women can't get pregnant" -saw a golf cart with a port list--the driver should get load leveler springs installed

Come on people stop digging your graves with a fork--quality vs quantity--you'll feel better and enjoy live more

Okay. I'll make it short and sweet.

Darrell's, as restaurants go, is mediocre at best. They get a very fair price for mediocre.
I wasn't speaking about a total breakfast, and I think you understood that.
Portion control relates to the size of a singular food, not a plateful of five items!

Having gone there only a couple of times, (and never again), has nothing to do with digging a grave with a fork.
Regardless of what you order, what you get can only be considered a meager portion.
You can't even consider this place a diner, if you've ever been to a "real" diner.

This post made me wonder where is the best place within the Villages to get a good breakfast? The only place I am aware of is Johnny Rockets(which I don't rate that high) at Lake Sumter. Are there any others?

tuccillo 08-30-2017 08:08 AM

If you don't like it then don't eat there. Why do you feel the need to bad mouth a business? Why do think anyone values your opinion on the quality of restaurants? They make basic breakfast items (eggs, sausages, home fries, toast) as well as anyone (my opinion, which probably only matters to me). It is not rocket science. Why is that old people feel a need to whine and complain and bad mouth everything under the sun? This thread started off with a positive comments about Rae Rae's for breakfast and then the negative opinions about another business starts. Whatever ...

They are located on 27/441 south of 466, north of 466A, on the west side of the highway. They have a corner spot in a small strip center. They serve breakfast until 11am, then lunch until 3pm (I think).

rivaridger1 08-30-2017 09:26 AM

Rae Rae's has the best corned beef hash in the three counties.

tophcfa 08-30-2017 09:57 AM

Darrell's Dinner all the way for us because we can get there in a golf cart, and if we sit outside our dog is welcome to join us. Where else can we do that?

Henryk 08-30-2017 12:56 PM

I've had breakfast at Darrell's, and I thought it was good. I'd recommend it. Prices are wholly reasonable, IMHO.
