Can we somehow use our mailbox number instead of our village address?

It would be a useful option to use on occasion.

Do not know why but why not ask the USPS? You get opinions here along with right and wrong answers.

NYGUY 12-28-2017 10:44 PM

Why?

Uberschaf 12-29-2017 05:54 AM

Because they might live on Dressendorfer Drive? Try spelling that to a service rep.

Then don't move to Dressendorfer Drive?
I specifically told my realtor that I would not buy a house up in the northern sections where they have numbered streets plus a street name. (7415 SE 172nd Legacy Ln).
Many of those are ridiculous.

Totally agree. I do not understand why a number and street. One or the other but not both.

IMHO, I doubt it, however, you could just get a box at one of the UPS stores.

njbchbum 12-29-2017 10:16 AM

Perhaps because the same p.o. box number occurs at multiple mail centers? Even adding a line to indicate the Village of the postal station can lead to confusion...a friend's GPS kept sending them to the Village of Bonita when they were trying to visit friends on Bonita Dr!

Those streets are in Marion County and they require all county streets and avenues in their county to be numbered in a grid starting from the center of downtown Ocala in 4 quadrants, NE, NW, SW, & SE. The reason why the numbers are so huge is because of their distance away from the starting point of the grid. The Villages, also wanted to keep with their street naming convention to be consistent with the rest of TV... thus, dual names for Marion County roads within The Villages.

Agree. We absolutely disregarded any home with the street number and name. We would not consider looking in that section.

It doesn’t matter to me what the reasoning is. We would still never look for a home in Marion County simply because of how the streets are named.

Bingo. Don't even care why it's done, won't live there.
