Replaced your thermostat with a Nest?

Has anyone replaced your thermostat with a Nest Smart Thermostat? Just wondering if it can be done.

We replaced with Ecobee

Yes.

If you are using this for a rental I have a different brand to recommend.

We are amazon driven, so we have an Emerson that connects with Alexa. Very happy to control our homes remotely.
Nest does have some features that we do not have, it senses when you walk by, so keeps track of when you are gone, and adjusts temp. Even though I can use my phone app, I can ask Alexa to change whatever I need done.

So when I Ask Alexa to start my car at 3am and it’s 30degrees, I can have Alexa turn up the thermostat so it’s warmer in the house when I arrive

I'd like to have that old round Honeywell model

between the smart phone, our smart television and our smart irrigation system controls I already feel dumber than a 5th grader

I've mastered the popcorn setting on the microwave, I have "Mr. Coffee" down pat and I can work the dishwasher....but frankly, I'm reluctant to introduce any more 'smart' stuff to my household until my grandkids can come down

Yes, but there are better options

I replaced mine with a nest several years ago. There was aspects of it I truly hated, like not being able to see at a glance what the current temperature was in the house. I kept thinking about replacing it with an Ecobee, but never did. We just recently purchased a new home in Monarch Grove and it appears all new construction is having an Ecobee installed. I've been very pleased with it so far. It does everything my Nest did AND I can look at it and tell what the current temperature is. Another feature, which I haven't used yet, is you can add an 2nd unit in another room where you might be having trouble regulating the temperature.

We had Ecobees in two properties. Don't have one here but will probably install one at some point. We really liked them.

We did it. It was easy peasy. Very happy with it.

Installed the Next 4 years ago.....it works well with Alexa and my iPhone. Monthly reports are interesting.

Yes, but watch out for all the pieces of straw falling to the floor and don't mess with the eggs! :loco: :loco:

Yes, but I got an Ecobee. Took me 10 minutes to swap out and as a plus it has Alexa built in.

Just to add, at least as of last year, the reason I chose the Ecobee was Nest had no way to just do a HOLD on any temperature, it always had to be in program mode. There was a lot of complaining about this lack of feature which was why I chose the Ecobee which can HOLD at any temp as long as you want in order to bypass the smart features IF YOU WANT. Nest had no option for that. Maybe it has changed in the last year but I doubt it. The explanation on how to "fake" that feature was quite convoluted.

I need to hold a temperature on Nest thermostat - Google Nest Community

Can Alexa tell you the current actual space temperature in your house? That is the most critical,IMO to determine if there is an HVAC issue

It will tell you whatever the thermostat is reading as will the Ecobee app and let you change temp by voice or control anything else that is Alexa compatible. I don't find the Alexa feature that important a feature except it has a decent speaker in it so I sometimes use it to play music. :) There are also small optional wireless sensors you can put in various rooms to adjust the temp when it senses what room you are in if that room is above or below the set temp. We don't use 1/100th of it's"smart" capabilities.
