Hit and Run Information Needed- Someone Knows Who This Is?

On Friday, October 30 about 11:20 am, Sumter Landing Bicycle Club members Bob Hunter and Jessica Laube were riding their bicycles south on Morse Boulevard around Bonita Boulevard when they were struck by a driver who subsequently left the scene.
Both were transported to the Ocala Regional Medical Center Trauma Unit. Bob has has been released, but Jessica has not fully regained consciousness and is receiving oxygen via ventilator in the ICU.
Witnesses report the driver, who stopped briefly at the scene, was a woman with white hair and possibly a cane, who was driving a white, four door Mercedes sedan. The car likely has significant damage to the right front and a broken windshield.
If you have any information that can lead to the identification of the driver or the vehicle, please contact the Florida Highway Patrol at (813) 558 1800 or Crime Stoppers at **TIPS.

Maybe the villages has security cameras. that is just horrible. best wishes for full recovery

I doubt the woman lives far from the scene of the accident. Maybe going door to door with a team of volunteers and asking if anyone knows someone fitting that description? Seems like the local cycling club with over 900 members could help since this involves a fellow cyclists?

I hope they find the woman. A hit and run with injuries is a felony.

Look for the auto, a white Mercedes with damage to the windshield and front. The woman is not likely to drive the auto, but instead look for a place to have it repaired. The approach I believe would be best is to print this information and go to every auto body shop in the area, including Leesburg and Ocala.

Finally, she has it parked in her garage so no one can see it, but must be using another means of transportation. I would check the local auto rentals, especially Enterprise in Lake Sumter, to see if a woman with her description, has rented a auto in the past week.

Hope this helps in some way.

I would think law enforcement would be on top of this

Such a shame. Hopefully she just panicked and will turn herself in.

How many 4 dr White Mercedes are in TV. DMV records, Mercedes Dealers etc. I am sure the police are on it. Everyone in TV knows what their neighbor drives, if she lives here. Sad.

I agree but there is nothing wrong with having as many members of the public aware and on the lookout to be able to report sightings to local law enforcement. A license plate number would be very helpful to the police.

A 4dr white Mercedes sedan won't be hard to find. I would think a neighbor will get wind of this and pass along? I admire those bicyclists who get out there and get their bodies working, but doing that in this community is not always the best decision IMHO...

The car is probably parked in the ladies garage thiinking this will be forgotton about later. The mercedes dealers have probably been asked by the police to look for this particular car if it comes in for body repair. Let's hope she gets caught soon.

It has not been mentioned here that the Florida Driver's License is good for 10 years. If you pass a test at the beginning of the 10 yrs and your sight is 20/50 it could deteriorate over the 10 yrs to where you should not be on the road. The driver in question may have a vision problem.

I stopped driving on my own accord. I didn't feel safe after having a episode where my heart very unexpectedly slowed and I had to be taken to the hospital and had a pacemaker put in.

I am very surprised always to read that someone would leave the scene of an accident. It isn't the way any of us were brought up. I am so glad to read that both of the folks who were hurt are improving. I hope they continue to get completely well. All people need to be extra careful as more folks return to The Villages and traffic get's worse.

God bless this victim. it's going to be a rough road ahead

Perhaps a vision problem inasmuch as she didn't see the cyclists she hit. Not such a good excuse for leaving the scene, especially with people who were clearly injured.
