Gmr
Just watched the Governor's press conference held in Brownwood. More vaccines allocated to The Villages, GMR mass vaccination site will reopen on Thursday and will become a permanent location. He did give the site to register but didn't address those that registered previously or if you need to re-register but looks like we will have an increase in allocation.

By now any half intelligent person at GMR should be able to come up with frequently asked questions based on first registration to being put on hold to resurrecting the process to start over/re-register, etc......we shall see! |
Lets hope this is true

THE VILLAGES — Gov. Ron DeSantis made another stop in The Villages on Monday, announcing that the Sumter County COVID-19 vaccination site that closed last month would reopen on Thursday.
DeSantis visited the site, run by Global Medical Response, on Jan. 12. Four days later, it closed, citing a shortage in vaccine supplies. DeSantis said that the permanent drive-thru site would be allocated an initial 4,000 vaccines weekly, but the state could potentially up that number. "It's all contingent upon the supply that's being sent to the states by the federal government," DeSantis said at a press conference held at the Center for Advanced Healthcare at Brownwood. "But this was a very well-run site. I was able to be here. I spoke with a number of the seniors. They were very happy with how it went. And so when you know that something works, you want to continue to see that go." |
Think we need to re-register if we have not had our first shot?

Here is an article about the return of GMR.
Drive-thru vaccination site in The Villages to open back up |
This is the email I received when GMR stopped, I am assuming this will be their policy going forward (just my opinion).
Due to unforeseen circumstances surrounding the national vaccine supply, we are temporarily suspending the operation of the mass vaccination site in Sumter County. Here’s what you need to know: If you received an appointment for your second dose, your appointment will remain as scheduled until further notice. If we do not receive the necessary doses, we will reschedule your second vaccination appointment. All 7,500 scheduled appointments for first doses, including those who received scheduling codes but have not yet scheduled, have been placed on hold until we receive adequate supply of the vaccine. If you have registered but have not yet received a scheduling code, you will remain waitlisted in the order received. Rest assured, you will not lose your place on our registry. We will continue to process registrations for vaccines and place individuals on the waitlist to adequately assess demand and report those totals to the Florida Department of Health. |
If we have already received our first shot, I guess we just show up on the appointed day at Wildwood Community Center for our second.
No notification received. Unable to contact Sumter County Health Dept |

DO NOT REGISTER AGAIN ON SAFERESTART OR YOU WILL GO TO THE END OF THE LINE - if you have already registered they will contact you in the order of date/time you registered. A 2nd registration throws off the system and cancels your 1st one.

GMR gave us a card and date for the 2nd shot but it did not list a time so I don't know about how that will be done. I was happy to hear on the radio that GMR will be back and it will be permanent and at the same Buffalo Ridge site. |

I do have a LEGITIMATE pre-existing condition. A bit tired of waking up at 5:30 am to hope to get an appointment. I would probably do the same but healthy people are taking shots that are supposed to go to people with pre-existing conditions. No matter what happens, people will complain. |
