This would include all the retirement/investment crap they send, etc. Personally I don't want my personal information anywhere. Even that stupid phone book that they can quit putting on my driveway because it goes right in the garbage.

easily put I'm tired of filling garbage bags with this unwanted junk

But how would ever know about all the businesses competing for your hearing aids, investment dollars or pre-mortem cremation plans???:1rotfl::1rotfl::1rotfl:

Do not know how to opt out but Seinfeld had a great episode where Kramer tried to opt out of mail.

I liked that episode. Funny, but true. You should be able to cancel your USPS account, but you cannot.

We still get a lot of crap in the mail addressed to the original owner of our house, who passed away 16 years ago. And we often get the exact same stuff addressed to the last owners, who we bought from 7 years ago. At least 90% of everything we get in the mail goes straight into the trash.

Start here and see if it helps.
DMAchoice is a mail preference service offered by the DMA.

That is why they have trash cans at the mail stations.

Every few weeks do get mailing from them wanting us to move so they can sell our existing home.

I guess mass mail advertising works because if there was no return on the expense for ads they would stop. It is amazing all the things or services that are offered in these mailings. They want to bury me, cremate me, sell me counter tops, dental/medical plans, car insurance, life insurance, invest my money, sell me silver and gold, hearing aids, cataract surgery, plastic surgery, buy my car, sell me a car, fix my sexual dysfunction, and loan me money, but nobody ever offers to give me money for free. Capitalism is great is it not!

You might not want to brick it up, but what would happen if you just stopped emptying your mailbox?

That would be fine until you get a letter from the IRS, a jury summons, or a court order. I think they should allow you to opt out of mail, and those official letters would go back to the sender, and they would need to resend it using FedEx or UPS. It would save a lot of money and energy for the country. I would be one of the first to opt out.
