New Public Service Announcement (PSA) in case of nuclear attack

New York City just issued a PSA in the event of a nuclear attack. The primary points are

1. Get inside
2. Stay inside
3. Stay Tuned (to news
)

City offers tips for aftermath of nuclear blast

How effective will this be?

I remember going thru this scenario in the 50’s/60 same time we adopted under “god” in the pledge of allegiance and changed money to in “god we trust”. If the initial blast doesn't get you the radiation will. If your god is merciful death will be quick but we all know he Doesnt operate that way!

I’d guess for us folks in The Villages, it would be “go to your nearest Cosco”. Wait, WHAT?

Nooooooo!

In school in NYC in the 50's and 60's they had us hide under our desk.

thinking back what were they thinking?

It was so they could find the charcoal briquets in compact little packages...

Nothing about implementing Survival Drill #2?

ureout 07-12-2022 11:40 AM

To start with what was posted:

GET INSIDE
- Fast
- Get into a building
- Move away from windows
STAY INSIDE
- Shut doors and windows
- Go to the middle of the building
- Get Clean Immediately
- Remove clothing and shower with soap or shampoo
STAY TUNED
- FollowMedia
- Sign up for Notify NYC
- Officials will send wireless emergency alerts (WEAs)

So, I see lots of "cheeky" comments. It is a news station, "slow news day?", it is good advice. Will it save everyone - nope. Will it save anyone - "maybe". And yes, I know, if anyone suggest that anyone should do anything that is not 100% effective, well, there is no point to it, is there?

If they do nothing they are criticized, if they do anything they are criticized.

I think we could shorten any post about NY or CA into "New York" or "California" period, and I am sure there would still be plenty of posts talking about what is wrong there.

I can't help it. I have bought a steelmaster desk. The one the teacher had.
If, my back was not such a mess I would duck and cover.

Perhaps, go down my basement but I don't have one.

Stick you head between your legs and kiss your goodbye?

If, you look you will find ads suggesting you send money. Remember Harri Kirshchner? Money, in god we trust, before the 50s and 60s we trusted in gold and silver.
