State Farm Auto insurance increase?

Just received my upcoming auto insurance renewal for our two cars.

One had a 15% increase the other 18% increase.
I called my agent and the explanation was state of FL increases due to rising cost of repairs, parts, administration.

The first time with State Farm there has been a premium increase on cars more than 3 years old.

We are long term State Farm customers but we are now motivated to shop around at other "major" insurers.

OP, good luck with your shopping. You might get a company that will give you a slightly cheaper rate for a year but then really stick it to you or cancel you the next. Full disclosure, I was with State Farm for many years and retired and move to Florida. At the time, State Farm
would not insure my new house because of their losses with Katrina. I had one small claim in 40 years. That has changed. So I dropped them because I was mad. Bottom line, I shopped around and ended up back with State Farm. They are a Mutual company (Policyholders are co-owners) and any profits are paid out in dividends. There is an incentive to keep costs and rates low. That said, a Stock Insurance Company also may pay a dividend to their stockholders. Nice to have choices.

I had that last year with AllState, had been with them for years and moved to State Farm, I'm guessing I'll be looking again....

I had Geico, had large increase, went to Progressive, now same thing.....they got us.

The Lawyers on TV encouraging people to hire them and you'll get a big settlement doesn't help the insurance rates.

Happens with all companies. Used State Farm, left and back 10 years later. Never a satisfactory explanation . The quote says if the want your business . Keep shopping

Last year, Allstate, who I had been with for 27 years, raised my premuim by 32 percent. So, I switched to State Farm and I am now paying less than half of what I was paying Allstate.

We find Hartford/AARP the best insurance and rate, Mercedes for a year, $700.

I held 4 policies with State Farm for the last 7 years, home, car, cycle and umbrella.

Sold the cycle 4 years ago and with insurance raising rates the last couple years, the remaining 3 policies per month are the same cost without the cycle policy.

Go figure. barf

Good luck! I did the same and stayed with State Farm. Although mine also went up, it was significantly cheaper since I had other insurance with SF. I wasn't prepared to move everything for a one year savings and a single policy with other companies was eye opening.

I also got an increase in auto policy. Called my agent and she switched me to Progressive and for better coverage and half of the premium.

Would you mind sharing your agent’s name and number? We are new here and want to use an agent to shop around for home and auto for us.
