Question for FB experts

Been a Facebook user for a few years now. All of a sudden my page has a new profile photo of a young Asian women and some of her stats in the “about me” section. Looks innocent, but I cannot delete or change anything.

I changed my account password, to no avail. I researched how to inactivate or delete account but the security area will not allow me. It’s aggravating of course. I went into all the FB help areas but cannot get to any deactivate or delete.

Can someone guide me??? TIA

It sounds like your account was highjacked. Contact FB support and have it deactivated, then see if you can reactivate your original FB page, with a new password and sign in. Now a word of caution, if you use the same sign in and passwords on other accounts, CHANGE ALL OF THEM NOW, you have been hacked.

After my grandkids told me it was kind of lame to be on FB I just stopped playing, although it is a good tool for socializing most of my friends gave it up too.
Occasionally I review notifications seems they always want me to friend people I have no knowledge of.

Here's how to delete your Facebook account on an iPhone:
Open the Facebook app on your iPhone.
Tap the menu (three lines), and select Settings & Privacy.
Tap Settings > Access and control.
Select Deactivation and deletion and choose Delete account. Re-enter your password to confirm.

You can't delete a hijacked FB profile that way. You need the Password, which the poster said he doesn't have any longer. He was hacked.

The only way you *may* be able to solved a hacked FB account, is with FB support and you'll need the patience of Job to do it.

The problem was you didn’t log out. You must log out every time and limit who see your FB page. The vulture’s are looking for fresh meat, don’t give them some.

People get hacked all the time. Just tell facebook and they’ll guide you. It’s an easy fix I assume. It’s never happened to me personally but I’ve seen it happen to others and they’re back very fast. I’ve never logged out of my account either. I also don’t click on things. Possibly someone else was hacked and you clicked on a link. Or something. It’s no big deal.

I’ve been on facebook since it started and have never logged out and never been hacked. I don’t click on anything though, unless I know where it came from.

Really, that’s interesting. I’ve never logged out of Facebook after using it. Maybe I should. Thing is, I don’t recall my password to log back in.

It's the opposite.

Logging out IS the problem. If you are logged into Facebook all the time, it's harder for someone to hack your account. Once you log out, that's when you become vulnerable.

FaceBook

The same thing happened to me. I couldn't get on my page to look at anything. So I clicked on deactivate, and shut the page down. Re-opend a new page with a slightly different name, and had my husband post my other page was hacked and not to answer any friend requests from the old name. Big pain in the neck. All my old posts and memories are lost.😢

The hacker will likely try to fool your "friends" with some kind of ploy. If you can post on your page still, I've seen people post that their account has been hacked as a way to warn friends. If you can't access your account because the hacker somehow changed your password, you should have received and email from FB stating that the account password was changed. It will contain a part that says something like if you did not make this change then.....do this.
