I never once thought that having a black president to be a bad thing. I think he should have very carefully responded so as not to feed the disdain of people who are ignorant. He is black. I thought it would have been much more diplomatic and it would be much better to have avoided saying anything that could be construed as racial about the verdict.

There are some that just plain thoroughly dislike me on this forum, even though they have never met me and really know very little about the person that is me.... and those people would take my words as mean spirited no matter how I said them. And to be honest, I feel a little mean spirited today. But Barack Obama's race has never once entered into my opinion of him until he sided with what seems to being made into a racial controversy. We should all try to look at this color blind.

While this is admittedly a small group they do get the press.

Here is an opportunity for the suppose "black leaders" to use those airways they so value to speak up

By the way, in March 2012 Sharpton demonstrated here in Fl WITH the New Black Panthers and was there as they passed out "Zimmerman dead or alive" flyers.

This is the man that others reach out for advice, give the microphone to, and on whose words folks hang on

The Martin family will be doing an interview on the Today program in a few minutes. Lets see what they have to say. That is IF the interviewer asks the hard questions. Will be looking for comments on what they have to say!

The black panthers are one of the fringe groups I often post about. They are fanatical, just like religious fanatics, gun fanatics, and keep in mind that fanatics come in all races, genders and most folks that fit the group by race sex etc. consider them extreme nuts. Most African Americans that I know consider the BP group a pain in the butt just like any normal American. So, don't fret over the idiotic statement by the goofball in the Utube we have watched.

There's a good article today on Dennis Prager's website (under columns)entitled "The Election of a Black President Has Meant Nothing" , very enlightning!! It refers alot to the Crown Heights racial tensions that was caused by a car accident that killed a black boy by a white man in 1991. Nothing has changed, but IMO, is getting worse.

Yes indeed this is a scary time in America!! Hopefully those still with spine and conviction will continue to stand and be counted.

Wasn't the first thing he said that the death of Trayvon Martin was a tragedy?

Many people die in gun violence, but the president doesn't comment on their deaths in this manner.

Here is the speech. I say again that too much was said that implied that the issue was racially motivated. It was not the time to say it.
