Default Tiger is in town

If you're fan ...

Tiger's airplane landed at Leesburg Airport around noon today.

Apparently Charlie is playing in the FL State Championship at Mission Inn, in Howey-in-the-Hills.

Don't know Charlie, but I've been a fan of Tony the tiger since I bought my first box of Frosted flakes. He's Grrrreat! 😃😃

Some of the high school teams are staying here in TV. I ran into a team from a private high school from West Palm Beach that is staying at the waterfront Inn. Their coach said they stay there every year because he can turn the kids loose and they can walk to LSL on their own and have plenty of restaurants to choose from!

Got to be tough being Tiger Wood's son. You would certainly feel the pressure to perform. Many years ago I went to my local public course in CT one Sunday afternoon to play 9 holes. I was told to join the 3 players on the tee. The tall blonde guy was Jack Nicklaus II, who was there to see if he could qualify for the Nike (perhaps Hogan?) tour event at Yale that week. At his age (29 at the time) he said that his dad already had won about 6 majors. He was trying to see if he could compete on a pro level. So I got the unusual opportunity to play 9 holes with Jackie that afternoon. The following day he went out, shot 83, and went home. Tough name to carry on your shoulders, but his brother Gary did have some minor success on the pro tour.

Forget the name thing, just being Jack Nicklaus' son was enough of a cross to bear.

I had the opportunity to meet Jackie at Winged Foot, in 1984. Very personable and friendly. Definitely took after Barbara and not Jack. Never met Gary, but I'd heard he was more of a "chip off the old block".
