You didn't miss anything, he wasn't there.

No clue why.

I enjoyed the US Open. Indeed there are many gifted players on the circuit today. It is what creates the drama. It gets really boring when just a few players get all the media attention and too predictable when the usual suspects win. Perhaps its just me but I lose interest.

Penalties in any sport can create controversy but in this case it was the fact that the USGA waited too log to determine Johnson's penalty. It did add to the drama though.

It was nice to see Dustin Johnson finally win a major. He is Captain Crunch but his putting ranked 45th so it was a bit of a surprise to see him pull it off especially on these greens

Oakmont has always had the fastest green on the tour. I was saddened that they remove over 7600 trees.

I was hoping to see Sergio finally win a major but....

I missed why Sergio was able to remove his ball from a bunker It was deeply embedded and sitting right next to the bunker's lip.

Why was he allowed to remove it? And is it a one stroke penalty?

He took an unplayable lie and yes, it is under a one stroke penalty.

Since it was in a bunker, he had to drop it in the bunker also.

I've had to do that a number of times, as the chance of burying it deeper or popping it up and hitting it again, then have it stay in the bunker, can be many more penalty shots than the just the unplayable lie.

The problem is that with a drop in the bunker, you take a chance that the ball will bury from the shoulder high drop and you have a tough shot anyway.

Didn't realize he would end up tied for second, so he took off to catch a flight. These guys take off right away in order to get home and see the family.

Don't forget Jean Van De Velde in the 1999 British Open. He made several blunders on hole #18 at Carnoustie. Combined, those decisions rate right up there as some of the worst in history.
