Default Nelly Korda Dominating the LPGA Tour!

Nelly Korda was a winner this past weekend, taking home the first-place trophy at the Ford Championship. In doing so, she has accomplished something that has not been done on the LPGA in eight years. The victory was her third win in her last three starts. How rare is this achievement?

No! Sports is entertainment. Pay is based on how many fans you can entice to spend their money on whatever the sponsors are selling. When LPGA draws the same as PGA, simple economics will raise the pay for LPGA, or lower the pay for PGA.
Fair? Life isn't fair! If it was, I would have Brad Pttt's looks and money.

Maybe has something to with sponsorship and attendance?

See WNBA

It's just not at the level of the men's tour...never was. Sponsorship, attendance, network coverage. All the above.

That said, the women's basketball Final Four avg ticket price is $2300....more than double the men's for this year. Thank Caitlin Clark. So there are inroads here!

When LPGA came to the UK, my wife and I always went to watch.
Small crowds, easy parking, no mile long queues for a sandwich, the reason they were not paid as much as PGA was blatantly obvious.
Never attempted to watch any PGA tournaments. Far too crowded.
Watched Senior Tour, again easy viewing, and they were paid a lot less than PGA.

My biggest gripe is equal pay for women tennis players, when they only play three sets, to men's five.
They should get 3/5 of men's prize money.
And that should be halved if they are a screamer with every stroke!

I’m not sure how rare it is but it’s a pleasure watching her play golf, glad she is having a good year!

I wonder how Clark will do in the WNBA. It’s a much more physical game than college. I’ve heard it likened to women’s prison ball and I’m sure a lot of the players will be gunning for her.

I think she’s dealt with that since AAU ball....grew up in it. She’s very Steph Curry like....the WNBA will have their hands full. Really don’t think she’s easy to intimidate....ask LSU

And hopefully that will change. If Rory is correct that viewership is down 20% this year and golf is becoming boring golfers may look elsewhere. LPGA viewership is up this year, not close to the PGA, but trending up. And while LIV was a benefit to the PGA, as Rory said, getting a more competitive tour is the solution and so far doesn't look like the PGA agrees.
