I remember a few years back Phil got a lot of grief for suggesting he was considering moving his primary residence away from California to avoid the outrageous state taxes on his earnings. I have never been a huge fan of Phil, but I will never criticize someone for wanting to make (or keep) whatever earnings they can legitimately make.

Saudi League
Phil - pack your bags and see if it is better over there. You won't be missed. PGA will survive without you.

I agree with your assessment of Norman. His account of the 18th hole is available online. Claims he hit a soft 4 iron instead of a hard 5 iron, and blocked it far right. I saw and heard him mistreat fans one year at The Memorial, an image I've never forgotten. Jerks usually don't take anything for anyone but themselves.

Looks like Phil double-downed with support for Saudi's. Bottom line, it's all about the money.

Looks like money talks, not buying to quote Phil, "its better for golf", no its really better for Phil's pocket, can't blame him, his life, his decision.

I am both surprised and saddened that one of my favorite golfers, Dustin Johnson, has also opted to play the Saudi Tour.

So Aaron RODGERS said the NFL were greedy bastards and said he was OK the Saudi’s killing an American Journalist? Not so! Let’s compare Apples with Apples. Rodger’s did nothing to discredit the NFL in his contract negotiations. I realize professional athletes are being paid insane amounts for their talents and as long as the owners and sport developers are willing to pay, that’s entertainment. Phil went too far with his comments and regretted doing so. It had nothing to do with contract negotiations.

Looks like competition just hit the PGA Tour. Whole new combined individual and team competition with many interesting twists. Time will tell.

If you want to take the money that’s fine , at least these guys said the money was the reason. , but Phil being Phil talks about he’s doing it to make the tour better .I’ve always found it humorous when the talk is about greedy athletes but how wonderful pro golfers are, now you can see that there just like the athletes some despise on here , at least the other non golfing athletes have a skill , one other funny thing is a pro football or NBA guy gets a DUI and he is ( well fill all the names you want to call him ) but John Daly and tiger get passes , me I don’t care but people you can’t have it both ways but we all know why you do

As far as NBA and NFL DUIs are mild to what those guys get into. IMO John daily has never got a pass. He never was one of the gods of golf. He made it cause he could hit golf ball 340 plus yards. Two clubs pass other competitor’s and he still struggled on and off course. As for tiger IMO probably the biggest waste of talent in golf. He could of been so much more. |
