Default Wondering if any Village course could host a PGA or LPGA event

Is it because all courses are surrounded by homes and hard to control. Not that the Villages needs the coverage or we need more peeps, but a PGA or LPGA event would benefit the Villages, or would it? I personally, would love to see a Professional event come to the Villages.

I believe there was a PGA event at Glenview, but the courses are too short and there is no room for a gallery.

I was hoping for a full field LPGA event. Maybe I should be careful what I ask for, I might just get it.

Default Why don't they build course with PGA tees?

I bet there are not any more championship courses in our future. If they built a course that is "home-less" that would be a feature course and enough land to handle crowds would be great, but I also think they probably are looking for more profitable ventures!

Sure would be a great way to let the world know that this is the closest thing to golf heaven.... On second thought, I want to keep this secret??? to myself!...Ha!

Maybe a couple members not a full tournament. That was more than 10 years ago that a full event was held in The Villages.

I would love to see one, but honestly, don't think the courses are in good enough condition to even be considered.

There are many LPGA and PGA Tournments held on Courses with houses on most holes. The sticky point is finding a sponsor willing to ante up the several million needed to sponsor a first class Tournment. A LPGA Tournment was held in my hometown for several years until the sponsor (State Farm) pulled out. State Farm claimed they were not getting "their money worth" out of sponsoring a LPGA event.

Default PGA/ LPGA at TV

To be honest I do not see any benefit for TV to host an event unless they are interested in giving back to golf. They could possibly host an Amateur event or Senior event. The conditions of a selected course would need to be upgraded. A close driving range would be required. Palmer would likely be the likely course that could handle an event.
