Another vote for Mike Scott Plumbing. The last time they were in my house, the guy said a new electric water heater would cost $900. Replacement is probably the way to go if it is more than 10 years old. Good luck.

Mike Scott Plumbing replaced our hot water tank this past spring and the cost was a little over $900. When they were finished, the clean up was so thorough it was like they were never there. Highly recommend !!

If you have TECO for your natural gas, they have a great install deal. They just add $15.00 to your monthly bill for five years interest free. Call them up and ask about it.

Okay - I have called Mike Scott - they are coming today between 11am and 3pm to replace the 16 year old ELECTRIC hot water heater.
The cost is just under $1,000. I will post the exact price once they have done the job! Thanks for QUICKLY replying to my request this morning for recommendations! Much appreciation, Rhonda |

Job ALL done! New 40 gallon Rheem Electric Hot Water Heater installed by Mike Scott Plumbing total price $910.00.
I am VERY pleased with job done - they were quick to respond on a Saturday and were here in 3 hours from my call to do the job. I highly recommend Mike Scott Plumbing for their service. |

I agree that the older a tank gets, the more likely it is to fail. But a water tank is nothing but a tank to hold water and a means to heat water and valves to safely deliver fuel and water. When my tank failed to heat water, I could visually see that the pilot light was out. I tried to use the ignitor to restart but the pilot flame would not stay on. I called "reputable" plumber, and two reps came. They told me that ignitor not working and valve any other parts would need to be replaced and cost not worth it on an old water heater. Having used the ignitor before calling, I knew it was a scam. They never even suggested that it most likely would be the thermocouple. By the way, I got my $100 fee reimbursed when I related my story. It would be great if someone could find or put together a simple troubleshooting guide to help residents understand options and costs. |

$15 x 12 = $180 p/yr x 15 yrs = $2700 Whooo wee, that would be the most expensive water heater I've ever come across. |

Send me a message - I can get it done (not myself) for a extremely competitive price. And quick!
