My dachshund learned very quickly and refused to walk on pavement if it was hot or if there was snow and ice. I had to buy little boots for him, took a half hour to get them on!!

I hope the man that was walking his Sheltie in Brownwood sees this. Poor dog!

Oh, that poor dog. My husband walks our dog in the morning and then around 7:30PM or so, but will put his hand down on the pavement first to feel the pavement to see if it is too hot. The rest of the day she goes out on the lawn in our back yard.
Sunny days means a later walk and cloudy days can mean an earlier walk. He uses common sense. |

I wonder where this occurred. It seems a little extreme.
Don't get me wrong. I feel for the little guys. But I walked Bart all over our part TV back from 2001 until 2007. I walked barefoot all over Jacksonville, Fl. and Jacksonville Beach, Fl. from 1950 until 1976 and so did my dogs. And NEVER did the pavement get so hot that me or Bart or the other dogs got those kind of burns. I think this needs to be investigated. Z

If you check out a site called HoaxSlayer, you will find that this picture is a relatively well known hoax. The picture is of a boxer that was locked up on a tar apartment house roof during the summer in Philadelphia. The dog was on the roof for over 10 hours sometime in 2011.
That does not belittle the fact that responsible pet owners need to take care of their pets but, as several as pointed out, normal per walking in TV anytime should not injure your pet - uncomfortable, maybe but serious injury - unlikely! |

My dog has reddened feet and ears and itch, went to vet and I feel this is the result of a new flea med she was on called Trifexis, oral medication she received 2 monthly doses had to give her Benadryl to keep her from chewing her feet. Called manufacture and received rebate. Well put her on Revolution that she was on before. A lot of info on the net about this drug.

That is what a dog's feet will look like if walked in the blazing heat of the day on black top. You walked barefoot "all over Jacksonville?" REALLY??!? Uhhhh . . .
